Given the release dates for previous point releases, my prediction (which was spot on for 1.6) is that it will be released between December 1st and December 7th. That's 29 days (+/- 3) from 1.6's release date, which most likely falls on December 4th, though I'd imagine after reading this they'll delay it by a day just to prove me wrong because they're cool like that 
That being said, we have anywhere from 14 days (optimally) to 21 days until release.
Note: This post wasn't meant to say you were wrong but to provide a more accurate guess as to the release date =D
Edit: On the other hand, if you want to rope 1.0 and 1.1 together since they hadn't started the monthly release cycle, a worst-case-scenario guess would be December 8th

Not likely. There are already ways to join an alliance and it's really not that hard - you can do it with an Eve Online alt. It would just take Dev hours away from something more important.

I'm having trouble wrapping my head around why you guys can't grasp what he's saying.
They're testing the stuff -right now-, anything that he tells you is going to be subject to potential cancellation which is why he's not telling you anything because you'll immediately go back and say: "But you promised!" when it's not true.
For real, just calm down and be patient. We know it's like Christmas and you can't wait to see what you got but holy hell, it's not that far away.
