My favorite one was Bakemonogatari, followed up by nisemonogatari. The other ones have been kind of "meh" to me. I only seem to like the newest one purely because of the back story there giving shinobu.

I think that was supposed to be symbolic of her transitioning back to her old self because of what koyomi did for her in the first one. I agree, I don't like it cut, but I imagine its supposed to represent the "new her"
