It's more like finding a cute puppy - feeding it, taking care of it, showering it with love, and right when it comes out of it's shell and begins to love you back... you kick it in the face, rip it's teeth out, chop off it's tail and shove it up his azz.
But do I blame Kyubei for that? Nope. The show has so many plot twists you tend to get lost in emotion.
