I'm in a Scout suit and I'm being auto-targeted by Turret Installations I haven't even provoked.
I'd really like to know how these things work CCP.
I know they target you when provoked, but at what stage do they 'Passively' target you?
Thanks for the hotfix CCP, Light Frames having 20m scan was so OP!

They only target those who're trying to win the match, the harder you try the more likely you're targeted.

Noticed that the smaller your sig, the greater chance you'll be targeted.
Can run by them in Logi suits all day, put on the one with the damp and BOOM! headshot. |

They have two targeting systems. An auto target which alerts them of incoming enemy mercs coming within their visuals. Best way to avoid this is to see how much their turret rotates and run from an angle that's just behind the turret. Sometimes you have to come in from the front but as long as you can time it well, you can reach the turret before it sets its sights on you. I have done it multiple times and succeeded as a scout. But if you time it wrong, then it's gun is super accurate. Too accurate in fact. It's often better to leave the turret unmanned and let the autopilot just rack up more kills than what a player can achieve with it.
The second targeting is when you shoot at it. After getting hit, it will only shoot at the general direction from which the shots came. After a while, the turret simply returns to normal operating procedures.
CCP, thank you for hotfixing the knives. But please make sure they're at their full potential in 1.7.

According to CCP's March Dev Blog, the cloaking equipment will allow you to avoid the turret's auto targeting system. Although to be honest with you, I think all installation including objectives should have a set scan value like normal scanners which should give scouts a chance to finally utilize their stealthiness.
CCP, thank you for hotfixing the knives. But please make sure they're at their full potential in 1.7.

Once an enemy shot at me and missed but hit the railgun so it locked onto me and killed me first shot...

I like using them for cover for this reason, the auto target fire in that direction, then targets them because it can see them.
Not because it shot you though.... |
