The OP has a legitimate concern. I also believe that the person who pointed out that the game was built on a framework with many of the tools already in place was accurate in his assessment that the game should be much more than what it is at this point in time. It could be that the issue is in trying to merge 2 separate gaming engines into one game (Carbon and Unreal). I submit that a solution may be to hire the CCP devs who design Eve to fix the game in Carbon, while I go play Eve so that when it finally works and the content is in place I can jump in and enjoy the game again too.
I've been here since closed beta and although things are moving a good deal quicker since the monthly updates there is no reason that they should at this point in time have people running around in all bpo fits because they can't afford to run anything else, They also should have racial weapons, vehicles and dropsuits in almost a year ago when the rest of the suits were introduced. The guns and hit detection should never have been an issue, there had been plenty of feed back on them but apparently it takes years to figure out where the bullet is supposed to go.
I seriously wonder if we are ever going to get a market, SOON tm right? With the E3 trailer at that point in time we were all clamoring already to go kill drones and do mixed PVP and emergent game play, all we got was Jenzaing, which in my opinion is *not* emergent gameplay (she'll probably want to hit me for this) but rather exploiting a broken mechanic that CCP refused to fix until the public outcry was loud enough to deafen the guy who has no eardrums (CCP has stated this is emergent gameplay and I maintain my stance on the subject). It is my firm belief that without Open World gameplay this game will never have emergent gameplay, and will continue to compete with all other lobby based shooter for market share. This game has very little unique to it yet, other than it's tentative connection to Eve Online.
I certainly hope that CCP Rouge is coming to the rescue rather than nailing the coffin closed on this game for me because I am pretty close to done on it myself. The coming patch and maybe the one after will most likely be a deciding factor for me.
