at least with how I understand plasma weaponry(I've seen a video from some guy who homemade a plasma pistol) it gets exponentially weaker over distances(from punching through relatively thin sheet steel at milimeters away to just barely popping a baloon at 10 feet)
and the scrambler pistols are electrolasers they are an entirely different classification. they use a laser with a precise frequency to create a plasma channel(not the same thing as a "bullet" of plasma from a gallente weapon.) which allows the transfer of massive electrical energy at nearly 100% efficiency(somewhere around less than 1% resistance) think of it as weaponized lightning.

well, think of it this way, the clones don't die first, the suit experiences catastrophic failure. What's the fastest way to induce failure in electronic components? overload. hence the energy weapons being powerful. the other ones just punch holes in things that are important, like taking a screwdriver to the hard drive.
though, in this game, the railguns are entirely BS. at the GJ ratings they use for tank turrets, they should be ripping those buildings on the field in half and have no noticable travel time or drop.

And also true! well..I dunno about the rail guns, they kinda are supposed to be able to send particles flying at the speed of **** you. the only thing I dont like about the forge rail gun is that it doesnt really leave a trail, so very often I cant tell where the fuckin heavy sniping me is coming from which is a little annoying. and yeah the rail gun instilations on ground and on vehicles are fairly pathetic as weapons, especially when some of them are supposed to be rail guns. but hey gotta give passengers something to do?
Current rail guns: less than 1gj of impact force. roughly as destructive as a cruise missile.
Dust rail guns: 80gj impact force, less destructive than a hand held version(forge gun) less widespread than a mass driver shell.
and it's not particles, it's a payload, currently(IRL version), it's a 7 pound aluminum slug.

falloff is the loss of power over distance between optimal range's end and maximum range.

As a tanker, I feel the incredible urge to smack you. but having done that, I can confirm that it is pretty damn fun.
