That was supposed to have launched on xbox 360 YEARS ago... I was pissed it was canceled for xbox.

I'm just finding it odd we crawled back up to 4k players today despite the ps4 launch.
I mean isn't everyone supposed to be playing shadow fall now or something?

Displeased, yep.
Not trusting CCP/Shanghai? Yep. Don't trust the other bunch either. Used to but I learned that lesson. They present nice speeches and videos at shows or conventions but CCP/Mothership is more excited about VR than DUST. Cheaper to develop and it only runs on a PC which will make their real customers happy.
I will wait and see but if 1.7 works like the patch notes & Dev blogs read then vehicles are junk. Which is fine since a significant number of them will be gone when the patch is installed.
Then we get bunches of new content ... maybe, not sure. Could be, probably not. We aren't sure and if you follow us on twitter you would have more information hinted than we get in the forums. But you had better grind now or you will not have enough SP to get the new OP Out Of The Box weapons the Devs really loved but have no idea how it will trash game play with real players. Will the squads that ran nothing but Flaylock pistols show up with Combat Rifles?
So, IWS. Does that cover the situation clearly enough?
We can see that November events are bringing the players in. Good job.
But don't get too sure of yourself now, many are downloading updates, getting new games going and BF4 is already cleaned out a significant number of DUST players. Many of those will never return. Others will not be getting their PS4 until the holidays. That will be another time to see if the player count dives or holds its own.
Time will tell.
I will say in regards to 1.7 you shouldn't be throwing so much sand into your eyes over that, there have been plenty of features planned for the patch that has been requested by players to which I wont be allowed to share but hopefully starting in the next weeks the developers will reveal all.
As for what players do at the presence of other things there is no predictability really to determine what they would do. I mean GTA V was supposed to steal the 'entire player base' and yet despite GTA V we managed to crawl up a population spike much higher than some previous months. PS4 knocked us down by a good 1k overall though but having this upward spike on friday is a bit odd and generally we're waning down during the weekend.
Overall I don't expect the numbers to stabilize until January as November and December are bad months to be competing generally.

I think the backwards compatibility along with parent company strategy is a large player in how fast the previous console can die. I mean we been nearly many years after the ps2 launch and there is an extraordinarily large number of games not available on the ps3 that only exists on the ps2.
