I think the amount of Passive SP should be reduced, but have passive boosters give a bigger bonus.
Already BPOs are unavailable, but in a year when the markets open up, people have more ISK, more people will be skilled up, and there will be a much lower demand for Aur items.
So boosters of all kinds will be the primary source of revenue for this game. Now will this make it pay to win? Not anymore than having boosters now is. Eve is subscription based but what people are really paying for primarily is to keep their skill queue running, at least here there is no upfront charges,no recurring charges, and you still get SP. The skill purchasing mechanic is also great because you don't need to be constantly logging on to update it.
Dust can stick to the f2p model and players can still do alright without paying, but tying more passive SP into passive boosters means that people with more money than time to grind can gain more SP over time by paying to play. This is enough of an advantage to make paying for boosters feasible. Time is still the greatest factor in who has more SP, A player whose paid nothing for 2 years can be caught up to by a player who has played for 1 only if they've spent almost $400 on passive omega boosters! That's pretty fair IMO and not P2W.
As for active SP I think that is something entirely different but still needs to be looked at. I wouldn't be surprised either if CCP tweaked the passive SP gain slowly and then just started selling less expensive boosters. A rollover cap would be nice as well, heck maybe even have a booster to let you rollover bonus SP. I personally like the idea of rolling over all bonus SP to a certain limit for everyone and then having a booster raise that limit as a compromise.
I don't think this would push the game into P2W territory either, but it would give people the option to get a bit more out of paying, and hopefully the increased revenue can be used to speed up the development process.
The Ellecon's come from a long line of Gallente. Tarn chose Peace. Tallen chose war.

Nah, as long as the skill tree is so unbalanced this doesn't fly with me.
Allegedly DUST is not a pay to win game. Your change would definitely force many to pay for the passive booster. Or fall so far behind that logging in would hardly be worth it.
Maybe they should sell AUR hats. |

Sorry, but this is just going to make DUST feel more pay-to-win than how some people claim it to be. It's pretty obvious.
CCP, thank you for hotfixing the knives. But please make sure they're at their full potential in 1.7.

Unfortunately, it is effectively making the "Pay to Win" vibe worse. Open market and LP Store pretty much negates any notion of P2W since those AUR items will be available though other means. Only Boosters are items that give an "unfair advantage" by allowing people to skill up faster and allows them to keep the benefit forever. Making that benefit even larger is just going to **** off people who don't want to pay.
Trust me, as they add more content and skills, SP will always be in high demand and people will always continue to buy boosters. I'm a HAV pilot with everything maxed out with over 5 million allocated SP, but I still run a full gambit of boosters because I know that SP will be useful eventually.
I understand what you're getting at, but I think it offers little benefit compared to the cost. |

I think people would drop plenty of cash if expendables were reasonably priced.
Remove time in battle from ISK payout formula and provide a bonus to winning team... Watch battles become fun again.
