You see posts like this fairly often in EVE. I can't believe pilots are so stupid to fill there hulls with plex and put officer weapons on there ship and think there invulnerable .. |

That looks deliberate to me. "Ship Fitting Guide" in cargo?
Not sure what his purpose was, but I don't think that was stupidity. Could be an attempt at hiding real-money trading. After all, he managed to transfer 15 billion ISK to the guys who killed him.

The system he undocked from is normally camped for cargo busters and transfer all of isk this way is often not optimal, I mean what if some idiot flew by and blew up the wreck?
bye bye plex.

Indeed... it looks like the target deliberately turned himself into a Space Pi+¦ata.
I wonder if instead of clever RMT, someone's trying to cheat at topping an EVE-kill leaderboard.

This is probably some sort of joke. Although 27 billion seems like an insanely high amount of ISK (and for most EVE players, it is), there are a few to whom this kind of ISK isn't far from "pocket change". I once witnessed a posted screenshot in corp chat from one of the alliance hotshots (it was a big 0.0 alliance back then, now it's dead). Screenshot showed his personal account. It was 1200 billion ISK. That was in 2009. |

Hell of an expensive way to top the leaderboard. 27 Billion (with a capital "B") ISK is not something people throw away on a whim.
My logical conclusion is that the pilot was hoping that no one would dare face off against an officer-fitted battleship as he was trying to ship highly-expensive cargo through the most dangerous high-sec system in New Eden... Uedama (look at the top right of the kill mail). Uedama is one of two key systems that are smack dab in the middle of the busiest trade route in New Eden running from Jita to Amarr and back. Niarja is another such system. To attempt to go around these systems is futile because the number of systems you need to jump through to bypass them is extremely time consuming and not even worth the effort considering how slow a freight ship moves in space. So freight pilots are forced to go through these systems on a daily basis while gate campers stalk the systems for lucrative pinatas.
Back to what I was saying...
It seems that this fool thought he would defy the gate campers with this setup and it's very likely he go baited into a trap for only two other battleships to take him down.
CCP, thank you for hotfixing the knives. But please make sure they're at their full potential in 1.7.

Now, Im not going to deny that this is completely lolarific, because it is. But since when does fitting a MWD on a BS mean you were going for a "speedy get in your face sort of ship?" You must be about as good at EVE as you are at DUST.

Bunch of Equipment that is only effective on NPC Drones players would question if you're tickling them if you used it against them. As much officer gear as possible.
No damage mods.

Throw armor tanking on top of that role countering any gains.
Several Unique items from close beta.
20 active 30 day boosters in his pocket that were lost on death.
8 omega boosters worth of cosmetics also lost on death.
Finally: Spawning in on a known to be camped CRU by two HAVs in an anti scout fit. Total in Dust isk appox. 270,000,000,000 isk
This is a good illustration, IWS.
Things that happen in Eve indeed don't always have good Dust analogs and vice-versa.

You are all dumb...
It was a staged loss. Here is proof:
http://themittani.com/features/alod-out-bang
quote from the article: "In this killmail, Marmite served as chosen executioner. Sir Gankal0t previously hired Marmite for various services, and chose to give MarmiteGÇÖs founder a nice parting present. However, this is not the first time Sir Gankal0t has pulled a stunt like this. He has taken breaks from EVE before, and announced each one by giving Marmite an expensive kill."
So any failed "theory crafting" you are trying to garner out of this fitting is moot as it was done on purpose.

Your example is so flawed considering your TOPIC TITLE.
How far does "Pay-To-Win" get you in EVE? This assumes that no one else can obtain the items unless they dump real money into the market. Those modules on the ship are simply faction/officer. They are available as in game loot (albeit extremely rare). They can all be purchased with ISK from an open world market. ISK can be gained through any number of means within the game. There is nothing PAY-TO-WIN about it.
Simply choosing an ALOD of your choice does not mean it was Pay-To-Win. Had those modules been bought specifically with ARUM then it would be another story. They were not. So your point is rendered moot. (moot means having no practical significance... I figured you'd need the definition as you couldn't get Pay-To-Win right...)
Also to top it off, your DUST ISK to EVE ISK is so off as the inflation of 10 years isn't taken into account. Simply multiplying EVE isk by 10 is not a proper inflation constant.
