In general, as in over the entire range of encounters one might likely find one's self in over the duration of a match, it is better to put an AR on a heavy suit than an HMG. Clearly we can contrive a circumstance where an AR heavy can be bested.

Make the HMG the backbone weapon of the the game and an good allround tool for heavies, like it should be.
