So since recent patches it now appears that CCP has brought back the richochet effect from beta. I am noticing undamaged richochet effects constantly now.
Thanks for upping heavy and commando suit armor, making a charge/thale's/kaalk effectively an advanced weapon. While the advanced weapons become basics, and basics militia crap.
Thanks for the crater/fish bowl map which only allows a sniper to cover 0/50% of a map.
Thanks for the tunnel/underground map that negates sniping almost completely.
Maybe we can up the damage on all prototype sniper rifles?
I have noticed a significant drop in my kill ratio since at least 2 to 3 patches ago.
CCP are you planning on eliminating sniping all together?
If you do that, than eliminate long distance forge gunning too.

Hush mate.
Snipers aren't supposed to complain about anything because they're cowards fighting from distance. Especially those in the redline - the zone CCP invented to make sniping safer.
On a more serious note... yes, proto sniper rifles do feel underpowered when dealing with proto mediums (not to mention heavies). This is because HP amounts on dropsuits rise much steeper across tiers than does damage from sniper rifles.
Unfortunately, this cannot be remedied easily because if you buff proto sniper damage, they will OHK anything basic or advanced, which would make them OP.
This is what you get when you implement core gaming mechanics without thinking things through. |

Sniping is easy and their are still tons of towers all over the map. Unnecessary whining.
The only issue is hit detection, everything else is a good thing.
Madness is the emergency exit. You can just step outside, and close the door on all those dreadful things that happened.

By ricochet you mean the blue shield flash? If so they need to fix that bug again, haven't seen it myself.
The health boost for commando and sentinel was needed. Choose targets, heavy frames are not good sniper targets unless wounded are slowly waddling across open ground for multiple hits before they get to cover.
I like the new maps, but they are sniper unfriendly. It would be nice if some maps were made very sniper friendly and some not, some tank friendly and some not, ect...
Sniping is not easier then using an AR, it is just a different set of skills. I use both and get more kills with AR, but know some people that get more with sniper.
Stats of weapons and suits seem fine to me, more sniper friendly maps are only spot that needs improvement, although the tunnel installation are great for the shotgun and smg people.
If the old manus peak(with rocky spikes and few buildings) and plateau maps from beta came back it would be great for sniping, and they had enough cover ar and shotty scouts could still use them well.

Buff sniping in general.
The new maps are actually pretty ok in my opinion.
I still get sniped, but now I can counter them.
Increase proto rifles headshot multi significantly.
There's my fixes from a nonsniper.

As someone relatively new to sniping I can see where you guys are having issues, headshots are harder to get a very long ranges and it is also sometimes difficult not to blue shield many targets. Just so you know though it was only in response to the many ohks that have been done to me that I even wanted to pick up a sniper rifle. Snipers have cost me tens of millions of isk in the past 6 months and it was only until a recent remark from someone that indicated that CCP really wants us to run 1000+ hp drop suits that made me realize what the problem was, I was under tanked, and with a sniper throwing stacked damage mods on it is really hard to withstand the firepower of a charge sniper or a thales.
If you guys are having issues finding good spots to snipe and sit in then maybe you need to run with the squad and play a support sniper role. Carry some ammo or a scanner and buff your fit. Use an Nt-511 or Tac Sniper of some variant and be on the ground pushing objectives and then setting up sniping posts close enough to visibly see the objective you are protecting. Switch to your sidearm (if not logi sniper) and do the CQC dance if needed and change positions constantly. My best sniper matches have been a result from these tactics, not sitting on a tower and picking everyone off, because eventually everyone will run in front of my scope if its location moves throughout the map (even down to the tunnels).

I seem to get enough head shots and OHKO from my bpo sniper, though I'm not a red line sniper as I'm out in the field and most of my kills are within 80-200 range. I also move myself to be behind the enemy's main force to get the most kills.

How about you grow a pair. Sorry that every map doesn't allow you to set up camp miles behind the red line and give you clear visibility of the entire map.As much as I love seeing sniper tears, this request is absolutely ridiculous.

Interesting. I've actually found snipers to be much more of a threat over the past couple of updates. Just last night I was two shotted in 2 seconds by a charge sniper in my 1300hp heavy suit. Does this sound like something that needs a damage buff?

yes i have posted on the hit with out damage effect also read my post on it to see explanations yes heavy suits are hard to kill with a sniper with out geting head shots and dident need the added hp vs snipers but needed it vs the op AR as 4 the 2 map comments you cant expect all maps to b a sniper map make a diff suit to run on them maps that don't work well to snipe on ,but usually there is a spot u can snipe from on any map just a limit on how much u can see and the amount of people you will see do to where the fighting is at most times no we dont need a damage upgrade but a zoom upgrade is needed so we can make head shots of heavys and other high hp suits at farther ranges yes long range forge guns are a big problem 4 infantry its a av weapon not a anti infantry weapon
4 the record i am a sniper i don't usually sit in the red line unless we are pushed back to it by the op top squads which match up vs us all too often lately |

The richochet blue effect needs to go asap.
Definitely expected much hate from the CoD shoebox fighters... Which if we lost some of those types of players I wouldn't weep lol.

Snipers and Logis.... Hell all these classes minus brainless assault make this game the un-CoD.
You hate snipers, logis, and heavies go back to fighting in the shoebox that is the game CoD.
Though Scotty needs to improve the matchmaking of squads vs unsquaded. It has improved though.

1. Equip Thale's. 2. Stack damage mods. 3. Stack armour plates, and then add a triage hive.
Sit deep in your redline and make sure you're barely poking your head out. Even if you do render for countersnipers you'll practically be a single pixel.
Of course, due to the ridiculous zoom on the Thale you'll be able to kill everything from there...

they were either cocky enough to stack 5 damage mods or slick enough to hit you in the face both times.. maybe both but as a heavy i havnt been sniped in the new maps.. at all i mean.. i think i felt one trying to tag me when i was moving around the outisde of one of the new city sections but it was almost comical because i knew instantly what corner of hte map he was hiding in and he didnt even break my shield.. must 've had pretty poor aim.. i ended up taking a dropship over to him later when i respawned and got tired of camping
CORRECTION: in the crater map where the street runs right along the edge of the city and against the rim of the giant crater there are only more snipers and they all like sitting atop the silos or at either end of the street.. easy enough to find.. obnoxious to hunt down though if ur not in a vehicle.. |

Do you know what Effective range is? If you are outside of that range you bullets will not do damage. Same thing with every gun. Try moving closer before saying it is a bug

I don't know what exactly changed, but it feels like the reticule is barely visible or noticeable these days. Feels like CCP let J.J. Abrams in on the map design, the brightness and sun flares getting a bit ridiculous sometimes. Can hardly see the reticule, not to mention the target dot due to background brightness on some maps.

The most damage mods I can use is 2, and have proficiency at 5.It takes 2 charged shots with minimum to score a hard earned kill. That is charging the weapon and try to readjust aim as a target I shoot at is trying to get away or at least to cover.

Many other weapons kill quicker, with less skills (sp and player's ability), and while using a minimal amount of their ammo supply. They are complemented with damage mods, they don't rely on them like the sniper rifle does.

The new Caldari Production Facility has been described as a haven for snipers, with LogicLoop stating that it will have a lot of verticality and long sight-lines.
