Personally, I like it. I haven't had any problems with it messing with any of my maneuvers and I appreciate the ability to provide a stable shooting platform for gunners. Only one gripe: the leveling out is nice, but the ship still tends to float off in the direction it was previously corrected from. If you could cancel the minute momentum after leveling out under a low threshold or add some sort of break, I wouldn't mind seeing this feature on my Python or Eryx as well (once they're back, that is).
Any other pilots have opinions on it?
P.S. To see how well this works, fly up to the ceiling with an afterburner, do a half flip and, while upside, let it auto correct.

Not a huge fan. But I will grudgingly accept it on a militia dropship, as long as it never gets implemented on anything else.

Why's that? I've never had any problems with it as far a getting in the way of me flying.

Like it. Makes it much more easier to bring the dropship to a stop.
Blatant Dust_514 recruiting in the silliest of places. :P

Dust is a game of teamwork. There is supposed to be coordination among different people in specialized roles.
What is the point of anyone becoming a "Pilot" in dust, if every anti-social sniper can just call in a cheap disposable auto-pilot dropship to get to their hiding place on their own?
And besides all of that: It's just not necessary. Flying the dropships is not that hard. It takes some getting the hang of, but if you are not able to level your dropship yourself, that's when you should be asking a pilot to help you.
Please CCP, remove the training wheels.

Please CCP, remove the training wheels. DUST is a game that is yet undelivered. The current set of versions have very little in regards to Chromosome. And whatever 2.0 will bring will be vastly different again.
And, read the 1.7 changes again. Slowly. They want vehicles to be used strictly within a very narrow operation window. HAVs and LAVs for certain, so why would your precious Drop Ships be any different? My alt has a few HAV fits, cheap portable Rail Gun Turrets is how I think of them. And they don't run out of ammo like the Forge Guns (which are great at taking out DS).
To riff on your 'what is the point of everyone ... ' issue?
First, why not? Who says you are the anointed pilot? The DS is a piece of crap, pure and simple. A gazillion years in the future and all they can come up with is a stinking brick with rocket thrusters. Wow, hope they didn't get a bonus for that design. Adding a stabilizer makes sense so I am impressed it even occurred to CCP/Shanghai.
Second, look at the rest of the game. Many run Logi while actual Logis get crap for their rewards. AR rifles are great until a Ninja Nerf Of The Day arrives and then everybody has to shift to Laser rifles, then Flaylock pistols, back to AR and now Scrambler rifles while waiting in breathy anticipation of yet another ill-thought out, under tested weapon - Combat rifle, is that you talking?
The entire point of a F2P MMO/RPG/FPS is playing the game you want to play. While most of that has turn to ash in our mouths the intent is still in the distance. Ever moving to the horizon, faster than we can gain SP.

You're right, flying from point A to B is not that hard, which is why I'd rather let them do it themselves so I don't have to be taken away from hot dropping, supporting, or spotting for my team. Not to mention there are far more skilled maneuvers and tactics than A-to-B flying and standing still, keeping dedicated pilots valuable.
This is not auto-pilot or a way to instantly save your ship if you are terrible at maneuvering. All it does is level your ship out after a few seconds, far too long to prevent any sort of catastrophic impact automatically. It's just a simple fix it a small, but irritating pain in the neck.

Wow, strong feelings on this much? ;)
Here's what it boils down to: You snipers need the training wheels on in order to make it to your hiding places without having to communicate with your team. Convenient for you it may be, it's bad for the game.
Here's an example for you: If I had a tac AR that had a range of 1000M, wouldn't that make your role as a sniper useless?

I don't like it, but it would be good to be able to toggle it on or off (I turned off AA) so good pilots or ones who want to fly on their own can fly without it.
remember, when you first see lightning play in a open field!
