Seeing how they will be removed in 1.7, I specc'd into ADS's recently, and was wondering what a good fit would be. Currently, I can't hit the side of a barn with my three-round-burst missile launcher, and I have built my python to tank with:
Highs 2x Azeotropic Ward Extenders 2x Light Clarity Ward Boosters
Lows 2x Local Powergrid Diagnostic thingys
Turrets 3x Cycled ST-1 Missile Launchers
I know that I should have better turrets, but I haven't specc'd into anything better than STD of every type of turret, some fitting help would be greatly appreciated though.
Drives a missile tank. Surprise.

First off, don't use cycled missile turrets. They have little stoping power, and tend to sway your ship.
Instead, try the accelerated missiles. With XT accelerated missiles, and two complex damage mods, you'll have yourself a versatile gunship that can take down infantry with one shot, installations with five, and tanks in no time.
Just remember not to overstay your welcome. If you come under fire, simply pull away to another hot-zone and return after your team has had a chance to clear it for you.

I assume your flying pythons, I'll impart my wisdom onto you:
My Fit:
- -: 2 Azeo ex, 1 supp ex, Surge hardener -: 1 polycris/ nano fiber (if hard to fit) armour plate, pg booster T: Sdt sides and and any accelerated turret can fit with the right skills
3100 shield and 1300-1500 armour. Fly defensively (as in gtfo when hit by anything). You want as much ehp as you can get because forges are sooooo broken it's not funny, therefore you ditch the boosters and activate the hardener ASAP.

I would've said fit an afterburner, but I fly Incubi so maybe Pythons are fast enough not to need one. But yeah, I'd say drop an extender for a booster, and grab an afterburner too. Keep that hardener, though.
The afterburner is an absolute beast and has been for the last couple of builds, because that cool down is so short. If you are hit by swarms, hitting them and zooming straight up means you outdistance and out range them. This simply tactic also works for forge gunners, although I prefer to angle and weave my flight just in case they're a better shot than I thought.
And fragmented missiles are more friendly starting off, I used those until I got the hang of destroying installations quickly, then switched to accelerated. Fragmented are cheaper too.
Damage mods are certainly an advantage of pythons, since the armour dropships need every low slot for our hardeners, repairers and plate. If you find you're really good at shooting things, go for a damage mod and a plate/armour repairer. Until then I'd say get as much eHP as possible, and don't forget trying an afterburner!

drop one of those boosters and replace with it with either a shield amp/hardener (depends on whether you want a passive tank or an active tank) or an afterurner. going the resistance route allows you to increase your tank significantly, going for the AB can be risky because it lowers your tank but it allows you to get out of danger zones very quickly. i'd also switch the cycled turret to either accelerated if you have them or back to the standard type, fragmented give you higher splash but lower direct damage so i prefer to avoid them, up to you though, since you aren't the best shot yet the larger splash radius and damage could be beneficial to you.
