@OP
Considering most of the people making the argument for the PS4 were 12 years old when the PS3 came out, I don't take your argument for the PS4 seriously.
"Youre like a small child that wanders into a theatre, no frame of reference!"
Furthermore, if we look historically at major platform launches they are always plagued with shortages, bugs and increase demand which increases the price. You really should get over the hype of the "new hotness" look at GTA5, crap. BF 4 which really is BF 3.5 and Call of DOOTY. It's all crap fed down our throats by developers that are just trying to get their product out. PS4 is going to be no different.
Don't contribute to mindless consumerism by adding fuel to this argument. The people that enjoy dust the most don't sway off the path of Dust because of new hyped out game. The bottom line is, nothing that will be released on the PS4 will replace Dust 514, at least no time soon. Even if that does happen, by the time it does, Dust will probably have been ported over.
Quit worrying about the future and enjoy the present. If that is to hard for you, then go find something else to do. |

Quit worrying about the future and enjoy the present. If that is to hard for you, then go find something else to do. Again, its not so much worrying about the initial release of the PS4, its about the development lead time to actually port it over. Its not something that they can hotfix in a month. Im sure that many people would feel a lot easier if CCP just said "We are aware of what is needed to port Dust over to the PS4 and have a team ready to begin that project once we deem it necessary for the health of the game. At this current time, we feel that a port at the release of the PS4 would be more detrimental to the community than beneficial. Rest assured, once that changes, we will let you know about the timeline for the port well ahead of time"
Well, CCP can say whatever they want...
Fact is they don't have a very good track record with following through...
And that's ok, I will continue enjoying the game for now and anticipate a long life spawn of the game in the future.
Anything that CCP says I take at face value, don't let developers promise's fool you.
Does anyone remember the first Team Fortress 2?

A thread full of standard issue blurf.
1. Preheat your oven to 375F.
2. Whisk the flour, salt and baking soda together. In a separate bowl, whisk together the peanut butter, butter, brown sugar, egg and vanilla. Add the dry ingredients to the wet and stir together until smooth. Using a spoon, form 1-inch balls. Roll each in granulated white sugar then place on a baking tray. Bake for 5 minutes.
3. Gently push each cookie down with the back of a small spoon, flattening it and forming a small depression in the center. Fill the center with a small spoonful of your favourite terrible thread. Return to the oven and bake for another 10 minutes or so.
4. Serve by throwing out the window and killing birds.
You spent way to much time trolling this thread, if only you would have used this time doing something constructive * sigh*

It's as if CCP says " We will port Dust 514 to ps4" all of you will have a sigh of relief.
What makes you think they will follow through with it.
CCP can tell us many things but until I see them I will not anticipate them so that I am not disappointed when my hopes and dreams are crushed!
Furthermore, few of us are business men or PR representatives so our perspective is that of a consumer, not a developer.
Just because ps4 is the new hotness it doesn't make it a cost effective or sound business decision to port it over right away.
If you think Dust 514 will die with the PS 4 then quit logging in, give away your isk and stop logging in to the forums. |

I think there is some confusion about CCP's intentions.
It's my speculation that they would rather have a couple thousand die hard fans who will keep buying aur and supporting the community than have a massive million strong fan base who have no brand loyalty and will move on to the next "new shiny thing".
I believe that CCP is tailoring thier product to a niche market of consumers who they are trying to get to stick around, all the others that are jumping ship are missing out.
This game rewards patience, I doubt most dust players will leave just because of the PS4 but do question how many new players we will start to see trickle out of the academy.
