Also, CCP Blowout., here's your first like!
I have one question for CCP Wolfman, but it is rather more specific about the course of the game than your questions in the interview. But anyways, since it looks like he is pushing vehicles towards using active modules, what is his stance on passive modules?
I'd like to know, because in EVE, passive fits can be better than active fits with the appropriate circumstances. And I'm not favoring the idea of forcing vehicles in Dust to use active modules so they can have periods of near invincibility followed by periods of great vulnerability. I'd like to be able to use passive fits that sit somewhere in-between for an unlimited amount of time. Thanks for the first like! OK sure - can you formulate that into a direct, unambiguous question so I can take it to him? i.e, "What is his stance on passive modules with regards to [xxxxxxxxx] " so that there is no misunderstanding and I can get you the most valuable answer
In Eve Online, Passive shield tanking mechanics are built around increasing your native passive shield recharge while decreasing incoming damage through resistance modules.
Increasing shield recharge can be done directly by using using passive shield recharger modules, shield power relays, and power diagnostics, or indirectly by increasing damage resistance to increase your "effective" shield recharge.
You can also increase your shield recharge rate by increasing your over all shield hit points.
Passive shield tanks also become stronger at their "peak" recharge level. At around 33% shield hit points.
There's much more involved with passive shield tanking as well, and it is very skill intensive, but often preferred over active tanking when youre not concerned with firepower.
Dust 514 doesnt have the mechanics described. We can't passive shield tank because of the lack of those mechanics, and anyone who has played Eve Online and flown a Caldari ship like the Drake, would be wondering why there was a lack of consistency there.
My question for CCP Wolfman is: Considering Eve Online's passive shield tanking mechanics, why weren't they included in Dust 514 shield tanking mechanics? Is it something that can be included in the future?
