DUST Search - There is hope, try squad finder.

Even with it's apparent flaws - Dust can be a fun game. I think PC bled the fun out for a lot of us when we put the tryhard hats on. so I implore you all - try squad finder out - meet some new berries, and see things from there perspective to better help your own. I've been meeting all sorts of new people - and the joys they get from this game, and the epic moments they share with me, even the joy of them driving around in my 300k LLAV, really helped bring light into this game for me.

I know this is just a useless thread from a troll, but I wanted to share this.

Theres still plenty more people who haven't realised how much of a contradiction naming planetary conquest as such is. It should be called carebear organised lagquest. Hopefully, eventually people will get standards and start whining about it as well but a lot of people have played nothing but sub par games coughconsolecough their whole life don't even understand how sht it is. Squad Finder hasn't been terrible, either. Squadding with other known trolls/warriors, Nooberries, and sometimes (though rarely) a mix of the two, gives you a healthy perspective of the whole game. I probably throw out 10,000,000 ISK to strangers every week, just to keep them levelheaded a little while longer - all while managing to just about break even on my own account. Charity isn't just a stripper's name. Cheeseburgers.

It gets a lot of hits, both from noobs and vets looking to help. Positive community interaction is a real balm to the harsh wounds this game immediately inflicts on academy grads and struggling sophomores. If we make collective efforts to keep people playing, even if they're clueless and terrible now, some of them will eventually become good players, some of them will be good people and we'll all be better off for it in both cases.

Beyond that, when you see the game from a different perspective and frankly, it's pretty fun. One interesting anecdotal piece of information... I've informally found a VERY high retention rate of new players when they have positive experiences in their early stages. That's a pretty nifty thing for the game period. I always try to help out new guys; spending 20min talking a guy through the skill tree and how to fit a suit is huge for them. Meet a newberry, coach him for a little bit, run a couple matches, pass them a little ISK and you've done them, you, and the game a solid.
