Whats the point of going to the trouble of hiding from scanners when you tell them the scan has errors, letting them know there is someone there , kind of think this is a little dumb logic.
Also if the scanners don't pick up the signal of someone lower that the scan DB, how can you possibly justify telling them there is an error. ?

Been trying to figure out the same thing. Seems like they had it set up for cloaking, but it still defeats the purpose of dampening to begin with. Especially since it takes so much to be fully dampened anyway.
I tried to put a level into Amarr Commando once, but got a server notification saying "Why?"

Someone at CCP thought it was a good idea for players that want to use flux scanners in order to locate enemy snipers...
It mentions this in the Active scanner Dev blog.
I think Active scanners (and all equipment) need to be looked at again. There is no way to counter scans...only prevent them.
Countering would be some sort of equipment that jams electrical systems and radar within a certain radius.
I also wish that there was an easy way to tell if you're in line of sight of an enemy. For instance, if your dot on the center of the radar goes away it means that no one can see you...but when it turns red it means that you have turned red on someone else's radar.

I may be incorrect but at times I have scanned for a scout and got no message at all. So perhaps if the scout is dampened sufficiently then no message is displayed. Food for thought.
As someone who runs a scout suit on occasion (getting quite into it actually thanks to the range buff) I'd like a similar differential from my end.
I can get a profile low enough to challenge a proto scanner (not the best) but still get the same SCAN PREVENTED message Does that mean they got the error message or not? I want more info! Are they after me or not! lol

Interested in scanner? Love it? Hate it? Think it has broken features?

I'd also like to see this message removed. It just doesn't make any sense to me.... please take it out. |

I don't think that really works, I think the scanners get 90% of use on immediate field. i also think that to detect a fully damped scouts you should have a photo scanner + an attachment or skill like going proficiency 3 on weapons. The thinking behind this is a scout can being fully dampened even pass the proto scanners, this is a little unfair as there should be a way to detect them. Hence the need for a further attachment or skill into proficiency which they could not hide from but the learning cost must be very high so's not every one who get's scanners can detect them.
I agree about the equipment needing looking into, just far to much on the field at one time, curtail it like the vehicles. |

It is a bit silly, right now scanners spin in 360 and light up everything in their path. If there is margin of error then they know to be cautious.
Scanners in general are WAY out of hand...right up there with ARs. It's becoming to much of a requirement to play. |
