It should, as it makes no sense as to why I would use burst fire weapons when I could use semi-automatic weapons and have a higher damage output.
But I guarantee that people will see the words Buff and Assault Rifle in the title and start QQing without reading the OP at all.

The Burst has higher range that compensates for the tiny bit lower dps and tbh if u can pull that tigger fast it drops people like the tac used to in 1.1 so no do not buff any AR its allready perfect for everything |

You realize that the AR series is supposed to excel at fully automatic fire, while the Combat Rifle is supposed to excel at longer ranged burst fire. The idea is for the Combat Rifle to be better at burst. The Combat Rifle hasn't come out yet, but once it does that will be the whole idea.
Im sure the "half effective range" was not intentional. Just because an AR effects you at a longer range does not mean that the Burst variant doesn't do that better.

I personally feel the Tac AR is on the precipice of OP. Though, the range nerf in 1.7 might change this for me.

Not really, its supposed to be a bad copy of the Min Combat Rifle
After all, you wouldn't want the Tac AR to be better than the Scrambler Rifle, would you?

my point the dmg would be fine for tac and burst if they had higher long range efficacy than standard but they do not |
