there was a freestyle free-roam mode where you could explore entire planets that randomly generate the terrain depending on the type of planet, and you can wander around, make bases where your corporations could hide out and raid other bases. And you can only get their land if you kill a certain number of their members on the world. Wouldn't that be cool? It would be like minecraft faction raiding servers, but massive.

Get rid of minecraft and swap it with Red Faction level destruction with Starhawk style building and then I'm a definite backer. |

Can you build anything you want, make complex traps of your imagination, set things on fire, blow **** up, get diamond armor, ride on pigs, have epic first person brawling, balanced gameplay (for the most part), killing that takes skill, making/crafting your weapons etc...

As cool as that would be, its very unlikely to happen.
Reason being that these battles take place on eve planets and some of these planets can get quite big, and there are a fuckload of planets in dust.
While i would like the ability to see some kind of open world mode, it doesnt really seem practical.
There where things floating around ages ago about a single player exploration mode but who knows whenever, if ever that may happen.

To be honest, I thought DUST was going to be like this. That is, more a open-world based gameplay instead of a lobby shooter. |

Big planets? Too much to traverse on foot? Not to worry, Vyzion Eyri's dropship service is here to eat up the distance for you! For a measly fee of 20ISK/km, you'll be at the destination of your dreams before you know it.
