It's been nearly 6 months now since Uprising when you introduced a bug to dropships which obnoxiously resets the aim of any turret gunner who tries to shoot targets on the ground in front of the vehicle.
This was not the case prior to uprising, and it started when you tried to fix the turrets from firing at their own ship. However you knocked out a SIGNIFICANT portion of turrets field of view. You took out the area they are most likely to be firing at, the area only area that has synergy among the other turret and or pilot's gun.
You made it so anyone shooting NEAR this quadrant (And far away from shooting the vehicle itself) will have the turret RIPPED out of their hand and aim reset to a default position.
Now with the 1.7 vehicle balance patch imminent (AKA belated 1.5+1.6) the assault drop-ship will be removed for redesign. During this time, worse than ever since Uprising pilots will rely on their turret gunners for kills. If the whole front area of the ship is bugged out, as it has been for far too long, then what is a pilot supposed to do?
Back their a** up to enemies and fire out of their butt where the turrets can actually rotate?
I think we've been patient enough. Tell us what is gong on with this turret bug and that you are fixing it as we speak. Because seriously, this state of affairs is embarrassing. It's not working as intended, and your silence and apathy to the hundreds of bug reports filed is nothing short of shameful.
edit: And one more thing. Why the heck did you nerf Passengers ability to look freely around the dropship???? Was it OP being able to see where they wanted to drop? I don't understand this at all. |

Well... I will say CCP is not silent on the matter but you have to remember they spent a lot of time gutting everything we knew about vehicles for three months now and have been constantly working on change upon changes since 5/14 day.
CCP Wolfman and his team are in charge of everything you touch in the game now, so when people complain about ARs he has to deal with that, when people complain controllers being weird he has to work with that as well. Skill tree? that's his deal as well. Bonus system? his as well. Oh that stuff you do not have yet like the new rifles and suits? His department also. Its a lot of work and I wished both CCP Wolfman and CCP Remnant had like 3-4 more people on their team to work with. I am literally surprised how much time he has to still touch ground with the CPM every day and at least he makes a trip to the forums on a weekly basis despite how busy they are.

If they come out with terrible vehicles if I spend half the match fleeing for cooldown resets if I spend the other half of the math fleeing for ammo restock If I can't see because the DS camera is still unfathomably inconvenient. If I can't can't let my gunners shoot out the front of my own bloody ship, AND my front gun is removed If I can't make any decent fittings because the new system is terrible If I can't hit people with small blaster turrets (hit detection/spash broken+removed since 1.5) If I can't fly at all because PC still lags out so bad that DropShips get frozen in the air for minuets at a time while forges 2 shot them If I can't reasonably play the role of DPS, vehicle Repair, support, MCRU, Scanning, and transport with out appropriate WP compensation (any wp? lol)
Then this game can enjoy the rest of it's slow descent into the void of only memories. Shattered hopes and disappointment at another failed promise of decent gaming. |

I'm sorry, were you making things up?
Specifically on this issue, Neither CCP nor wolfman have made a single public comment or acknowledgement on this huge bug that's been reported since Uprising hit.
Why is it that I seem to know more than the dev team about what caused this bug and why it remains?
What caused it: attempt to fix dropships from firing turrets at themselves. Why it's not fixed: Nobody pays attention or cares.
This vehicle redesign was not in the works 6 months ago, this problem should have been patched or at least ADDRESSED when it came out. To say they're busy now is an excuse that does not cover previous inaction.
Post again and tell me what they've actually said about the ability for DS turrets to aim properly around the ship, as once they could. |

Paradigm shift will be required for the new vehicles that much is certain.
I expect a new term to come up called 'cycling' where the player rolls in, starts a clock, and does his thing in before the clock runs out then rolls out to reset the clock.

You should apologize for trying to take CCP's flak and pretending like you they've done a single thing to fix or inform dropship's about what happened with this turret bug and when it may or may never be fixed.
Fact of the matter is they either do not know, or know and do not care. If they knew or if they cared they would have made a post. It's been since may. That's not a time line that's appropriate for bugs in the gaming industry.
No excuses about being busy or how CCP can't possibly comment on all bugs. Sorry, after 6 months it takes only 1 minute to read and comment on the status of things. If CCP thinks this is expecting too much, then that would speak Volumes about Team-Dust in general.

Also if you looked at the CCP's backlog (if it were public, and no it wont ever be due to exploit listings in there as well) you will realize how much useless complaining we can do. Though its always good to keep complaints fresh just in case. Things do get forgotten over time or fixed 'accidentally'.
Keep your secrets to yourself, nobody cares. Backlog can burn, CCP should have had the time to speak about this ages ago. It's not a national security secret, there are no exploits here.
And if you said Wolfman personally told you he realized this, and ordered their Chinese team of devs to to work on it I would neither care nor believe you.
Point me to a public quote or move on and find some other thread to assume the role of whipping post for CCP. The lack of communication from CCP signals only that they want this game to die as slowly and comfortable as possible.

A small part of me always wants to tell you to stfu with the dropship qq, but then I remember you are the ONLY person who speaks for dropship pilots. The ONLY person who takes the time to point out and detail the different bugs associated with dropships. The ONLY person who has not quit with feedback even though ccp ignores us. For this I thank you, keep up the good work. |

Turrets are not a problem. Missles work great vs vehicles and very well vs infantry while blasters tear apart infantry. The only turrets that need work are the railguns. |

Tired of hearing immaterial and unverifiable things. I know the value of a CCP official statement is even arguably worthless, why would your commentary be any better?
If their plate is too full to comment on this issue for the past half of a year, then I'd say they're already sunk. I guess that's going to be my take away from this thread. |

I'm hurt, I complain about small turrets all the time to CCP Wolfman, why do you think I know how full his plate is? He is one of the more constantly pestered devs by the CPM. Turrets are not a problem. Missles work great vs vehicles and very well vs infantry while blasters tear apart infantry. The only turrets that need work are the railguns.

Restrictor plates or rods or rails are peice of metal typically placed on mounted guns to control their area of weapons fire coverage. In other cases its to prevent damage to both gun and nearby equipment while being moved about.
For example on old canvas and wood planes of ww 1 the tail gun would often have a rod between the gunner and tail section to prevent gunners from shooting their parent craft's tail off.
The drop ship had to keep changing due to the earlier fact a turret shooting the parent craft would indeed get you killed (the hit registered and altered flight characteristics) This was the one thing I complained about the most when they threw the new controls in (that my own gunners were killing me)
While CCP may not talk to you guys about the small things and how they plan to fix many things they do talk to the CPM often. I have consistently expressed my issues with vehicle and turret controls frequently attempt to remind them of all the things that need address, just CCP can only fix so many things at a time. The reason why I haven't complained about the turret snap lately is because I haven't been given the chance to be a gunner in a wildly flying dropship to see if the case is still true (my last pilot was wonderfully stable and let me get about 7 kills / 10 assists before I got shot out of the gunner seat) and as bad as I remember it. You posting just confirms its still there to an extent.
You have my assurance I am not going to let CCP forget on how annoying this factor is and I do hope they will visit and fix it soon or they already fixed it and forgot to update the CPM on it.

Just responding to a direct quote from IWS about turrets in general, not all the bugs associated with them. I know thats what this thread was about originally but I cant help but feel cheated as a pilot by the upcoming changes and seeming disconnect between pilots and devs. |

Just know I am not trying to fight you or other pilots at all, all I am asking is some calm and maybe a good post consisting of all current complaints in a logical thought out process of a post that's easy to follow and something that can be easily presented in the raw to CCP.
I would say wait for 1.7 as well but thats a ways off at the moment however there is nothing on my end on discouraging the activity, I won't say it will not be wasted breath because I am quite sure that there will be complaints that will be missing addressal.
So how about it? Talk to your fellow pilots and compile something good by Monday and I'll make sure CCP Logibro, CCP Saberwing, or CCP Frame holds honey lamb ransom for a reply or at least an acknowledgement of a good thread concerning the issues.

C: If CCP has had too much to do since introducing this bug in May, that for each month after that they couldn't spare the moment to comment on a vehicle role breaking bug then I'd say they're done for. That's not a legitimate excuse.
D: Wonder why so few people complain about this bug? Because all the DS gunners have literally QUIT THE FREAKING GAME. They're gone. Wonder why there are no new DS gunners to post about the bug? Becuase they all try it once, comment on mics about how ****ed turrets are and never give a damn to fly in a dropship or try turrets again.

A: In WW2 AA Guns were given restrictor plates to prevent raking their escort ships. We're talking professional crewmen making this mistake so often it was a overly used tactic by pilots to cause far more harm to a tight knit fleet while avoiding getting shot down. Has little to do with blueberries and more about humans wanting to stay on target. Also the forward snap would perfectly place the gun in a position to shoot the parent drop ship. This problem becomes lethal in FF enabled games such as the LAV turret nailing its own hood.
B: To Slow and To Effing late to try for changes, Try 1.8 now. This just proves you're not in good dialogue with CCP or following how things work and need to pick up the pace or not doing enough foot work or been using far too much salt in your eyes to see past the fixation of your assumed source of your issues to realize that maybe the reason you're not being heard is the lack of effectiveness of your voice.
C: That is a problem with development is that you have a limited number of resources, and so so so many things to fix. Something simple and stupid to fix may not see its fix for months because there are far more massive fish to fry.
D: I am more to willing blame for the entire lack of dropships, period. I can play 10 matches and not see one used proper. Also if 10 people quit every time someone said that people are leaving in droves for reason x we would have 0 people by now across the entire week and day. This sort of statement will hurt your argument a plenty, because CCP has numbers and they can make much better guesses as to why people leave than you or I ever will. This will be like me going to CCP saying the majority/entire player base feels feature x is not worth the development, that sort of statement will get me booted out of the CPM pretty damn fast.
Look I am more than willing to help but I need your guys help to build cases and sell stuff to CCP and the quality of ammo you guys continuously provide is pretty damn terrible. I demand tech 2 bullets when possible/feasible but I'll settle for top line tech 1 stuff not this rusty military refuse have sort through daily, tear apart, and re-piece into something barely usable by end of the day.
My ability to be easily impartial allows me to see wider range of problems stemming from outside the subject. When I complain its a blanket of issues, its up to CCP to figure out which ones are best to nail first. Without good ammo I cannot on good conscious help them decide which things should get nailed and in what orders. I mean why fix turrets when dropship controls are terrible? Why try to make more noise over current distraction of subjects today? (shorter TTK and railgun damaging MCC seemed to be the player sparked topics of discussion this week) When that voice is rather poisonous and accusational?
I mean I am doing my best to find feedback over the stabilizer feature for militia dropships and so far its so sporadic its not funny, however I have ran across far more threads about the stabilizer than the turret issue.

I think there is a blog coming that will cover the finalized for the patch changes and what will happen to your current skills, and vehicle assets. But my ETA clock puts it far out (possible 2-4 weeks out :( ) Hopefully most concerns should be addressed then about what is going to happen on 1.7 day.

It alone should be warrant for a full respec, since this is a complete change to how vehicles operate on the field, and will require much more SP for maximum performance. Keeping in mind that these are changes to core gameplay and skills, not random additions like new weapons, modules, vehicles etc. So, these are things that you would have to be privy to upon initial investment of any SP for any skill, since these can drastically alter your SP allocation.

Exactly. maybe if people knew how vehicles were going to work in 1.7 they wouldn't have speced into them at all. So changing the core of vehicles this way warrants a full respec to pretty much anyone far as I'm concerned
