At 60m out an assault rifle will destroy you, crouched or not. Unless of course, you're not talking about a heavy using the HMG? ED: Another olive branch: crouching does decrease dispersion on the HMG quite a bit, and I agree it should be a tool in the box of any good heavy. But you move so slowly while crouched that you may as well be standing still because any decent player will easily be able to keep aiming at your head. I agree with Disturbingly Bored, it can be useful but if your under fire from an enemy already, crouching will probably get you killed. AT the moment I don't have complete numbers But am working to get the correct footage to make good examples of how and why damage is lost. Up to now the problem is it's accuracy rating. At 61% accuracy if you are not dead center on the target you lose 61% of the damage. That accuracy rating needs to drop to 50 or 40% so there is an even spread of damage in the spread. Make the spread tighten faster like how it happens with the burst variant fires. Plasma Cannon Advocate

Crouching is great for defending interior objectives, particularly when holding a doorway or corner (preferably with the help of a Logi running Scans and good Reps).
