I just watched a video from CCP trying to pitch DUST. It was full of inaccuracies like "every Orbital strike is from an EVE Pilot!" but what really stood out was the way they touted customization.
"Tired of being a paper-thin sniper? Ever wondered what it would be like to be a sniper in heavy armor? You can do that!" Well, you know what I'd like? To be a Logi in heavy armor. You can't do that. |

Congratulations on missing the point and interjecting with your own prejudices. The dropsuit class system keeps fittings rather rigid, despite the fact that CCP produced a video claiming incredible flexibility. I understand that Logistics suits are incredibly more versatile than any other class, but that's not the "You can do that!" promised in the video. |

You have a Light Weapon slot you can fit with a Swarm Launcher or Plasma Cannon, an Equipment slot you can fit with Remote Explosives or Proximity Explosives, and a Grenade slot you can fit with A/V Grenades. Every single piece of anti-vehicle equipment is available to you except Forge Guns.
What more do you want? |

SoGǪ why are you here? Your time would be better spent creating or commenting in a threat on a subject you're interested in than it is trolling here.
A Heavy suit with a single Light Weapon slot, limited High and Low slots, and two or three Equipment slots would be an excellent option available to a character that has Logistics and Sentinel suits trained. Just because you wouldn't use it doesn't mean it's a bad idea or can't be balanced. I wouldn't use it, either. |

GǪkeep doing what they're doing. Sorry, I'm just not stupid enough to think CCP will read a forum thread and immediately stop everything they're doing to implement a half-baked idea. In fact, if their internal brainstorming sessions are worth a damn, I expect that ideas similar to this have already been suggested.
I'm still going to have fun discussing it, though. If I can waste your time in the processGǪ BONUS!
EVE has ships that require cross-training, usually belonging to pirate factions. Since pirate factions aren't currently manufacturing dropsuits or equipment, it makes more sense that cross-trained dropsuits would cross dropsuit class boundaries rather than escape a race's philosophical paradigms. Expanding it to ideas like HMG/Forge Gun Scouts and more agile Assault suits isn't too far-fetched.
But none of that makes any sense until the full spectrum of currently planned dropsuits and weapons are implemented. That would be ******* stupid. |
