look at the stats in vehicles and beyond, its stickied in the top of gd, look there and estimate it for yourself.

CBA to theorycraft just to get a rough estimate of how much SP you need.
You probably know? Why not just tell me.
Is it like 5 M or 10 M or 15 M? I just want to know if the time is right, or if I should collect some more passive SP before even trying.

Start off with the Pilot suits would be my advice. Let the burden of risk ride on an experienced pilot, who may want a little help.

It's much more to max out the core skills, but you'll have no problem at that amount.

That seems like very little to try a good tank. (Then again I'm no a tanker) but for me to get a good dropsuit one good proto weapon and core skills is like 12-15 mil |

Pfft, my tanker is at 5+mill and only THEN was i able to survive Mlt swarm buttfuucks.
New system i would say just focus on Core, std turret op, reload and capacity, and then immediately afterwards go straight for racial tanking- armor would be plates/hardeners, shield being hardener/boosters.
CCP wants me to specialize? But there's so many weapons!

it's about 1.75mil to make a HAV with basic turrets and turrets. 16 mil for a completely maxed out tank with complex modules (shield/armor) and a prot turret with maxed skills. 4 mil will get you a pretty good HAV, though.

Will try it out in 1.7 then. Had some tried with a sica with blaster turret earlier, would say that went so-so
But I guess it takes some time to learn. I have seen a few tanking guides in the rookie forums.
