o7 Scout Brothers. I have seen the light of the AR and thought it my responsibility to share it with you. Your months of fruitlessly shotgunning at bunny hopping bumpkins has trained you well for the AR - you track better than anyone else in the game. Convert to the AR and you shall reap WP. WP I say! Embrace your inner slayer. Embrace AR 514. Embrace the inevitable.
But in all seriousness, try out medium suits - you're so used to dodging and tracking with your shotgun that your militia frontline suit is boss in your hands if you really try. I'm amazed at the results I get from free suits when my 100k proto scout doesn't produce. |

I'll even start wearing PRO suits in PUBs. First off, logistics are meant to be versatile, and while they can fulfill the tasks of other roles they will never be better than at that role than the other, i.e a min logi will never have the same speed and stealth as a PRO scout, and a cal/amarr logi will never have the tank abilities as the heavy without sacrificing vital CPU/PG used for our equipment. To put it simply, logis can do everything, but they can't do everything at the same time
This might be the worst response I've ever read for anything ever. |

Fear not! I haven't given up on the scout - yesterday was weird though. I'm usually sliced to pieces by ARs at no more than 65m, but yesterday I was getting blown to bits (even as I ran away) at 75+ m by the AR. I had a game yesterday that I started 1-7 with a scout suit ---- frustration set in. So, I decided to use my militia fits and got much better results - finished 12-9 (going 11-2 the rest of the game). I realized that all those months of attempting to get the impossibly difficult to aim shotgun to work makes using the AR a cake walk - easy WP. Until the scout is fixed, it might not be worth it to run 100k fits that can be sliced to bits even at range. This made me realize a few things.
-Heavies really are in need of some love. I've long denied this, because as a scout, the sight of a heavy fills me with dread - even if I sneak up on you at an objective it usually takes 3 point blank shot to kill and that is more than enough time for a heavy to mow me down. But I was slicing up heavies like no man's business after the switch.
-At close range, the AR is the best weapon. Period. The shotgun does more damage in a go, but in a way it is an all or nothing gamble with the shotgun. Missing a shot with the SG puts you at such a disadvantage that it's really difficult to use. The AR is just mindless spraying. Literally. If you sneak up on someone the way you would with a shotgun, you can take out half their health before they notice (as you can with a shotty) but then when they start bunny hopping like the scrubs they are you have a continually rate of what is basically laser fire. A continuous stream of damage that ensures that even if you miss a few you'll catch him eventually
-Scouts need more HP. It's sad to say, but this is something close to an unavoidable truth now. My prototype scout has less eHP than a prototype drop uplink. A proto drop uplink. As I've said multiple times before, medium suit AR bums won't accept any changes to their ARs or their suits so other suits need a buff. Heavies need more HP because they are sitting ducks when multiple AR fire is upon them. Scouts need more HP (though certainly not as big an increase as heavies) because what we have now is unacceptable. I have 87 shield (shield skills maxxed) and 162 armor (armor maxxed). I don't use extenders/plates because I have 1 high slot that I use for a precision enhancer (let no scrub ever tell me that I'm not "Scouting") and I use my lows for Kin Cats, Cardiac regs and range amplifiers to know enemy locations, drop uplinks and get out of there. However, yesterday, even with the range "buff" I was getting slayed by ARs at distance. This wouldn't be a problem, except that I have such little HP that even the damage "dropoff" (if you can really call it that) of the AR isn't sufficient to protect me at ranges outside my very large scan radius. In other words, extra scanning ability is great but if the AR can mow me down at distance even if I detect him and I can't run away even at 10m/s then what is the point of the scout as it is currently constructed? I need enough HP to run away at that distance. Not CQC. I just need to be able to survive the GEK at 70 meters is all.
I'm figuring you raise the gallente scout's health to 100 Shields and 200 armor. Not a huge difference mind you, but sufficient that I might survive the extra .2 seconds I need to get out of range as I run away. I'm going to keep on with the AR today and see if I fall off, but yesterday was fun. Playing on hard mode for so long, I had forgotten that I'm really really good at FPS's. I'd encourage every scout to consider making the switch - just for a while - to know what you're fighting against. |

XD We actually agree. The switch isn't permanent. It's just to build confidence - hard getting killed by scrubs you know you're better than (some of these guys can't aim at all...AT ALL) just because your suit is an afterthought to the makers of the game.
