Flaylock proficiency, worthy?

Rush Inamras PiZzA DuDeS 25	Posted - 2013.11.08 03:27:00 - [1] - Quote So I'm still using the flaylock, I'm getting better with it and it's starting to kick ass again, but it's a strange weapon. when fully upgraded there's only one proto-level flaylock pistol to mess around with and eehhh I'm currently on Operation lvl3 and i dunno if a 25% increase will make it kick that much more ass, or even if lvl 5 proficiency will make it even nicer... it's either continue into this or try out the mass drivers more, or hell...why not max out both the mass driver AAANND the flaylock? I WOULD BE KING OF EXPLOSIONS

I would like to say I use a lot of the precision weapons (glu 5 and scrambler rifles, sniper rifles,pistol, etc) but I also use the flaylock quite a bit and like to blow people to smithers, especially when a group of players try to move in a concentrated group and I hear that's where mass drivers come in . sometimes a precision weapon or even assault wont cut it, so yeah I really want to skill into this Mad Bomber thing, seems like a ** ton of fun and possibly super effective.

I just said Amarr logistics because they have sidearms and multiple equipment. If they wanted to reduce the splash damage by that much, they needed to increase the missile speed so the gun can actually pull off direct hits. But alas, this is CCP and it's not an AR, so they decided to say **** it.

I WOULD BE KING OF EXPLOSIONS What they did with the flaylock is they nerfed it to make the proto flaylocks splash radius just a bit better than the ADV flaylock was before, and the ADV flaylock WAS very usable, However for the damage the flaylock was nerfed by 25%, meaning when you NOW equip damage mods& proficiency 5, the damage is just about the same as the proto flaylock was before WITHOUT damage mods & proficiencys. So basically, your maxed out flaylock will be doing 240 or so base damage per shot,with a usable 1.75m radius. So it IS still very usable, However to compete with the freedom MD, requires proficiency 5 and 3 damage mods, and ends up 2 shot splash killing starter fits 3-4 shot killing proto mediums or heavies,5-6 shotting hybrid tanked protos and stronger heavies. NOW the freedom MD with proficiency 5 3 dmg mods does around 220 base damage, with a much wider radius and longer range. This GENERALLY makes the MD more usable. As a result of this competition from the MD, the flaylock requires the minmatar MK.0 assault suit, proficiency 5, 3 damage mods, and dual flaylocks to be exceptionally great. Now IF YOU DO have all those requirements met, NO ONE will reliably defeat you at close range, period. You'll rip heavies and fully hybrid tanked caldari logis apart with your EXTREMELY high DPS and 8 shots before you reload. The flaylock can still be extremely good. It got nerfed because when it used to have these requirements, it was doing over 350 damage a shot(splash), and with the fire rate, nothing else in the game came even close. Though thankfully only 2 or 3 people ever used flaylocks like that, to their max potential.

Otherwise, they nerfed the fun out of them. 15% bigger splash from 15% additional damage is a MF on the already badass MDs. (2 MDs on a Commando on that ledge over the objective on the Crack map in Domination is area denial and explosive fun at its finest.) Cheeseburgers.

Of course I use it as a weapon to finish people off I get the feeling other people try to use it as a main weapon. Depends on your play-style in the end like most things in this game. The newer the berry the dumber the juice.

However, I decided to wait until we have the rest of the sidearms in the game (ie. Ion pistol, bolt pistol, MAGSEC SMG). Once those are released, I will choose one sidearm to get REALLY good with.

I would go as far as saying the flaylock is a good weapon for the amount of PG and CPU it consumed is very lowed compared to it's other sidearm counter parts. for that reason it is a good sidearm. Hmm that is also a good point, I just made a mass driver/flaylock fit and i have a considerable amount of space left. and that is sometimes true, hard to hit fast swerving targets with a flaylock, but its good for heavies, and anything that's not so fast, specially when they are hacking something or sniping (wish they would increase the travel speed of the missiles) ...but all that said, this fit is working better than i thought it would and im only using a standard MD and adv flaylock.
