Two things:
One thing that has annoyed me personally in shooter games in the past, is why your gun auto-reloads when your clip reaches zero. Is that really necessary? Do we need that much hand holding? I want to hear the gun click empty a few times before realizing I have to reload
The next thing I have to admit wasn't my idea, and I can't remember who I stole it from... But someone brought up the thought of losing whatever bullets are left in your clip when you reload. This would make reloading a much more tactical choice, do you lose half a clip of bullets in order to reload, or are you okay going into your next encounter with half a clip?
I think this would add some more depth to the game, and make bullet management a little more important.

I also would like these features implemented.

I played one game (can't remember which one) where your ammo was magazines and when you reloaded and the mag was not empty it was put back into your inventory but at the capacity that it was taken out at. Eventually when you go through your other mags and get back to that one it is inserted at the capacity it was when it was taken out. So, for example, if you reloaded at 1/2 capacity you will eventually reload a with a mag at 1/2 capacity. |

Socom did that, and it worked well. The problem for Dust tho, is that we don't have X number of mags in our inventory, we just have a total amount of bullets.

Doesn't mean that they can't change it to that way. |

Sure, but just be aware that starts opening doors for other problems. How many mags do people get? How many for an AR? How many for an HMG? etc... How do nanohives interact with mags as opposed to just one pool of ammo each player has now.
Not saying it can't be done, but it's probably a lot more work than you'd think.
