Is it better to advance your dropsuits with skill points before you buy them and waste them? Or does it really matter. Is it wise to keep using military gear and weapons till skills are maxed? |

Depends. Even with 12 Million skill points, I still go back to militia gear all the time because it's free. I only use my advanced and prototype gear when I need to give a big punch.
As for SP, definitely spec on upgrading your suits before advancing. The advanced suits only benefit is being able to fit more modules, so unless you have better modules to fit, there's no point. |

You're going to get as many different answers as there are roles in the game. I've progressed relatively slowly, spreading my skill points out over a variety of different skills. My suggestion would be to make sure you have a decent number of skills before you start running the expensive stuff - but I don't think anyone ever stops running BPOs or militia gear, at least some of the time.
Common sense will prevail. Adapt or die.

Use militia as much as you can bear. Passive skills should be your primary concern, again, for as long as you can bear it.
Seeing advanced suits with Duvolles, or proto suits with no passives to back it up, is a terrible waste.
No.

Do not spec into a dropsuit or use anything else than militia before the TTK is fixed. I can recommend getting enhanced armor plates and fit them on a militia gallente medium frame (you need dropsuit engineering 1 to fit an mlt AR and standard locus grenades).
Get some proficiency levels on the AR and harvest the enemy redberries. ;-)
Edit: Compact nanohive (nanocircuitry 2) is very useful. It has 50 armor/s repair.

Specialization Suits benefit from the bonus at higherlevels. Ie. Advanced Gallente Assault get better fitting bonus to hybrid weapons, at Level 5 suit skill. You dont have to run Proto suit just because you have Level 5.
I wouldnt be Ble to fit my Gal ADV without Level 5. Fitting skills in general included. |
