Why?
Because AR's are versatile.
So OF COURSE you see them the most, what did you expect, everyone to run around with shottys and knives?
Once all four AR's drop into the game, they will probably have an equal footing in terms of % of use, and that will kill any argument for "diversity".
Now, to the HD thing:
All direct damage weapons now became fricking powerful as ****.
I really suggest an accross the board eHP buff, or at least damage nerf to all direct fire weapons. (Including SMG's, SCR's, AR's, and whatever else that I can't think of right now)
This isn't the real world though, this is New Eden. In New Eden every weapon type has strong positives and strong negatives, with no one type being a jack of all trades. The AR is going to get nerfed somewhat when they add the others and turn the AR into the BR, but until then we are stuck with a gun that has the best of all worlds. Furthermore, if the Breach and Burst Assault Rifles are any indication, the Rail Rifle will come out somewhat below par and the Combat Rifle will be seriously lacking. I hope this is no the case as I look forward to a Minmatar Light weapon that isn't explosive spam, but I digress.
There is not supposed to be a jack of all trades in New Eden. Due to the heavily specialized nature of the other guns, the AR is more of a Queen or King of all Stats, depending on who you ask. There are far more AR users than Scrambler rifle users, and far more of them than anything else. Even with the added variants, unless the Blaster Rifle is seriously weaker than the Assault Rifle then no-one will switch unless they have SP to burn.
Why?
People already spent their points on getting ARs as high as possible. It'll be the same as when they nerfed the Caldari Logistics suit; people will still primarily use it because they spent a metric ton of SP on it and would rather not start again at the bottom.
So, to summarize my ranting, New Eden should not have a jack of all trades(hopefully addressed in 1.7), the other racial's don't look too bright, and people will stay with what they have skilled into. Therefore, adding racials will be nice, but it won't solve problems inherant in the AR.
Also, real life is boring. If we wanted to play a Real Life shooter, Call of Duty and Battlefield just released new installments. We could play them for AR supremacy and shot TTK.
