Too often, the team that has the upper hand is the team that got the first dropship on the tower/mushroom/etc...which is usually unreachable except by dropship. I think we really need a way for dropsuits to reach these locales without dependence on vehicles. Whether that comes in the form of a light dropsuit with a built in jump pack (like Planetside 2), equipment, or other module, I don't really care...but I think giving dropsuits that ability would provide a counter to things like Forge fun sniping that's far more effective an fun than any number of nerfs could be. |

Lol I was actually considering asking for a module that lets scout jump higher based on stamina charge.... this however, what you suggested, makes much more sense.

If the enemy is camping on a tower or such then you know where they are. Avoid their LOS and keep doing your thing untill you get a an orbital...
But yeah, jump suit or whatever would be cool. We could name them assault scouts. |

this is a good idea just as long as it isnt so over powered that it replaces vehicles as a form of transportation... |

Stairs and doors?
Fighting up and down the interiors of the towers of Line Harvest (and similar sockets), with a NULL Cannon console on the rooftop would be an epic, refreshing change.
I'd be willing to bet we see Jump Modules (Scout friendly) before jetpacks, etc.

Actually no, we don't need jump suits or jet packs. Both of these proposals have been pitched before, by numerous posters and every time these proposals have been roundly opposed by the game community.
The issues with jump packs/suits are as follows: 1) Currently the dropship is the only point of entry to high locations. By removing the DS's only usefull ability you would essentially be removing it from the game which no one wants.
2) This would lead to even more annoyance with snipers in truly stupid locations. It would be a pain and we don't want to deal with the "I'm in the impossible to hit location that also conviently lets me totally cover that objective" play style. This would make the game much less fun for all of us.
3) People jumping about in combat is annoying enough, imagine how bad it would be if they could fly out of combat.
4) I didn't see if your scheme for these devices allows for weapons use while they are being deployed but imagine how much more it would suck to be mass drivered by people hovering over your heads.
5) How are you going to balance flight time vs costs of the units or are you proposing that people be able to fly around non-stop? What about an overheat mechanic? Is there a chance the units self destruct?
6) Jump suits/jetpacks will in no way actually improve the game since it would not add anything new beyond annoyance which would only be new in that it would be a new flavor of obnoxious.
Now with more obscenities!

It seems to me that "holding the tower" is currently a high stakes game, due to the cost of drop ships, that has a major effect on the game at large. Adding cheap jump packs simply makes it a low-stakes game.
You solved your own objection to shooting while flying - don't allow it.
As to removing the only valid use for dropships, you're right, but that's en enormous problem with dropship balance at its core....it's absolutely ridiculous that their valid purposes aren't general transport and aerial harassment. Hopefully, that's on its way to being resolved by Wolfman and co. |

Id say male a light and medium (maybe heavy) suit variant that can use the module, they could have a sustained version and a quick but not long lasting version of jet pack Maybe aeronaut suits should be the name

Rofl, we need THAT type of jumpsuit- makes the wearer invisible to scanners, has 0-0 hp, and can't run quite as fast- maybe militia weapons only?
Edit: as for jump-packs... Personally, i love the idea. However seeing as halo, tribes, mechwarrior LL, and i believe one of those other shooters... We don't need to copy, we need to be different. We already have Hp and fittings/SP, but we don't need Jp
Well, maybe honestly. But they need to be terribly unusable in the middle of a fight- super slow ascent rate, long flight time, and a cooldown to be active after trigger is released?
Or one which is -jumpy- which adds some sort of double jump, albeit sluggish and limited, that would allow scouts to jump over crates and short walls
CCP wants me to specialize? But there's so many weapons!

Did a search on jetpacks and found this, so giving it a bump
I would love to see a jetpack module, as many have mentioned that often a group of enemies will entrench themselves on top of a high building or whatnot using a Dropship. And getting rid of them is next to impossible if the other side doesnGÇÖt have a Dropship pilot willing to risk his ship getting close.
And seeing as there are no Light attack crafts or artillery turret for HAVs yet, jetpacks would be a nice introduction. It opens up new attack paths, making it possible for striketeams to bypass harden defenses.
As for slots, it should be in the PG slots, demanding a sacrifice in amour and such. Also, heavier suits would need more jetpack modules to archive the same lift as medium ones, light suit getting most out of a single pack.
Take off could be as simple as double-tapping the jump key, once in the air you use fuel until you land and it starts building up slowly.
The two secrets to be a good sadist:
1) Don't tell them everything you planned.
