today was the first time i had the chance to test out 1.6 and to my surprise, i'm actually enjoying it. for those of you who dont know i'm a full time scout. i'd heard that the TTK had been reduced drastically. this is very true. i have had guys killing me in half a second when they have a spec of health left. on top of that NKs hit detection have seen no noticeble fix, but that was to be expected. i mean since when does CCP care about nova knifers?
but something surprised me. based on what i heard from my fellow scout brothers, i was expecting to die a bunch and overrall suck. but the opposite has happened (so far).
my first match i went 21-6 in my proto scout gk.0
almost all of my mathes have been going well. i dare say even well than in 1.5.
Shotgun is working so much better. i've been dropping protos like flies with my Shotgun today. i hope this isn't just a stroke of luck, and this stays permanent. the TTK for ARs is ridiculous, but honestly i've been dealing with OP ARs for a while now, so i've gotten used to dealing with them.
i plan to get to tier IV on the Scout Registry/Killboard by today or by the end of the week. less than 400 kills to go
if you use an AR, then i dont care, but for anyone else: how is 1.6 going for you guys?
have you been having the same luck as me?

***** being blown out of proportion and having game mechanics that actually work is separating the men from the boys so to speak, its a process thats been going on for a while now as the former "good" players kick and scream that each new update means they get killed more and more by new people because their gear isnt carrying them as much and that bullets will hit them
Anyway back a little more on topic I do like the changed feel of things, I can kill a proto suit in a starter fitting much easier if I get the jump on him now instead of getting the jump on him and watching him bounce around or not enough shots register to kill him as before

Loving the repair tool. Absolutely loving it. It can't make people invulnerable but it can flip the balance just enough for them to get a kill instead of dying with the enemy with low armour, and that makes it worth every penny. I run prototype suits with a basic weapon just for the equipment slots; I don't even need to shoot people anymore, and I still make a profit (unless there are too many proto slayers on the other side).
Now if triage hives had a different coloured bubble, so blueberries knew it was different, my life would be complete.

I got absolutely smashed yesterday, as I posted in a thread or two.... but today was a different story.
I'm not sure if I was being even more of a sneaky bastard today, or I had a lucky day, or maybe everyone else had an unlucky day but today was a win for my Gallente scout + scrambler pistol combo. I played 9 games and had a KDR above 1 in almost all of them.
I did reasonably well in Domniation/Squad play but even better in Skirmish/Solo play. Most of the Skirm games I was in the top 2 or 3 and had pretty awesome payouts using my standard gear. I never have super KDR, think my best today was 8/3 or something.
I found that TTK was as frustrating as yesterday, however relying on my TAC-NET a bit more, as well as cover, and using my speed to flank or sneak attack worked well. I spent some time guarding objectives, but more time using range extenders and infiltrating/hacking/laying remotes.
Overall, I think I can get used to it, but I do wish I could get the SP back I spent on Armor/shields..... playing sneaky/aware is a must for me now, as well as using speed to engage (still no luck disengaging if I mess up and need to flee, then death becomes me)

Because 40 meters is mid range and its a close to mid range weapon Now as angry as you are at that how much will you scream when the CR and RR drop which have increased ranges?

I have been waiting for the combat rifle for too long, even if it was sht I'd still use it as its winmatar.

The stats on it make it look like its going to be a beefy marksman weapon that should shred armor, so a counterpoint to what the scrambler is right now which I like the idea of and will definitely be grabbing at least the standard version of to start playing with it But since it has a greater optimal than the AR meaning guys getting killed at a greater distance I imagine the QQ would be deafening as long as its not shooting spit balls

Heavy HP Changes: Erm. Okay. I'll take it. It wasn't really what we were asking for. Seems to balance out evenly with the hit detection changes.
Other thoughts: WHERE ARE THE REST OF MY FAT SUITS?

Im on the opposite side as you on the matter, I like the idea of increased ranges making things more difficult and meaning I have to always be aware and cautious It makes the game more exciting to me that way when there is always a sense of danger and hell, increased ranges mean we can shoot those jackasses standing on rooftops with something besides a sniper rifle and maybe pop a few redline snipers for instance on ashland near D I cant tell you how many times Ive seen a sniper hiding in the hills nearby just out of range of me being able to kill him Of course I still take a couple shots to let him know I see him, usually makes them run away

Grab an LLAV and a bricked fatsuit and mount a small railgun turret on it, seriously. Drive to a perch, snipe with it, actually HIT people, and drive off. Rinse and repeat.

Laser Rifles all of a sudden have a load of bugs and glitches since the deployment.
- The dot on the RDS often disappears.
- After you set a squad order, to a desired player or objective; a constant, locked on, no damage dealing laser beam is firing in which direction you last set the defend order. This will be locked on even if you are facing the opposite direction or have switched to a sidearm or equipment.
This dramatically exposes your position to the enemy players with the light show :(
- The bug where weapons merge seems to happen even more often than it did before. - I kind of like this one, but anyway :)
- The invisible laser beam bug/glitch is now ridiculously easy to recreate, leaving for some really OP invisible Laser beams of death.
There are some thing that I wish they have changed/implemented and fixed some of the bugs they should have done ages ago. Like the installation thats STILL under the ground on that one map amongst other things. Apart from some minor things here and there I think its a less than average patch, that could have fixed a lot more stuff ready for 1.7. |
