I made more of a rant in the events thread, so I'll be a bit more civilized here.
CCP, I assume the "3x" SP (in quotes b/c that's not really what it is) event is intended to bring some players back and re-energize the player base, as well as give us some SP to use when 1.7 comes out. That's all fine and good but you are doing it wrong!
So, you triplet he cap, which as I recall is a bit under 200k, we will round up to make the math easier. So, triple the cap is 600k. Not too shabby, I'd like to make that much in a week for sure. However, by only tripling SP from WP you take something that should reduce the grind into something that makes it worse
Maths (it's late so bear with me, I'm dumbing it down due to fatigue):
Normal conditions: Let's take the average halfway decent player, makes about 1000-1500 WP or so on average per game. Average game of skirmish takes 20 minutes? It comes out to around (again, rounding off to make the math easier) 10000 SP per match, 500 SP per minute. It takes roughly 20 battles to cap out, which, if Scotty really likes you, takes around 7-8 hours.
Actual triple SP: All SP from battles are tripled. Math is easy, you now make 30,000 SP per match, and cap out at 600,000 in the same 7-8 hours.
"Triple SP" as planned: You now get 3 SP per WP, which is still less than time based SP accrual, btw.
So, the average battle now nets you a grand total of, yes, 2-3000 extra SP. THATS IT! Less impressive when you look at it that way, no?
So, now you make 13000 SP per game. To actually realize the promised tripled cap, you now have to play FORTY SIX battles to cap out, more than double! (600,000/13,000). So now it takes you 46x20/60 = 15 hours. - Let's say for the sake of argument you are ReGnYuM or something, and you make 4000SP per battle. You get 8000 extra SP per battle, let's call it 20,000 SP. You still have to fight 30 battles to cap out, so the argument that structuring the bonus this way rewards people who play well is still bogus because even an outlier who makes 4000WP a battle (if anyone can even average that, I have no idea) has to play more than usual to hit the new cap.
Please answer this question then. CCP: If you have a player base who already feels like there is an unnecessary amount of grinding involved, why the f-- would you give us a "bonus" event that makes us have to grind for twice as long!
The right way to do "triple SP" as a bonus? We put out the same time and effort to get triple the total SP.
Honestly, find me one person who complained after the true triple SP event that he or she just didn't have to work hard enough for it. "Please CCP, can I have the opportunity to grind twice as much?" Raise your hand. Anyone? No?

Exactly. The way the original post is worded makes it sound like a real triple SP week, but apparently it is not. Yet another bit of pretty clear-cut feedback from the player base to CCP that was completely ignored.

It's not entitlement, I don't like being misled and I don't appreciate when pretty clear cut and easily understood feedback is ignored. Who honestly wants to grind more?
Your argument about this being for people who cap on Thursday makes nonsense since the whole point of even having a cap in the first place is so "no lifers" can't get an insurmountable lead in SP over everyone else.
If that was the case they may as well call it "Dust514 tryhard week".

You're an idiot. Try reading it again. Passive BATTLE SP, which represents the majority of points most (if not all) players get from each battle. Have you received 30,000 SP from any battles today?

low genius wrote:before you go building a long post like that, maybe read closer the things that you're addressing. just because you assume something doesn't mean that's what ccp had intended. I read the rest of your post. it's sad. you think that there's 'too much grind' in dust? go play something else. it takes me 2 or 3 days of the week to hit my cap, and the rest of the time i'm playing for 1500 wp a match. I jdgaf if you're a mediocre player with a big mouth.
If you have the time to play 4 hours a day and cap out that quickly, good for you. A lot of us have kids and have real jobs (I work up to 80 hours a week) and can't. I'm not the only person who thinks this, plenty of players much better than I am have voiced similar complaints. You don't agree, that's your opinion, and you are welcome to it. As am I.
I do enjoy the game, I just literally do not have time to cap out 90% of the time. I won't even come close this week. Again, my main problem is that similar feedback was given before and it was ignored. The original description of the event was vague and reality has disappointed those of who were looking forward to a real triple SP week. The other issue I have is that this only encourages the very behavior it allegedly is intended to combat, which is AFK. A more reasonable thing to do would be to increase he WP-SP to maybe 5, to actually make a big difference; that would reduce AFK, not a paltry 20-30% increase in SP gain.
