How many of you guys use the Nova Knives as sidearms? Not as your main weapon, but as a compliment to your primary?

In 1.1 they were my main an only weapon got over 20 kills a game, now I hardy use em an if I do I bring re, grenades a sg or smg, not reliable anymore.
Some people wish they were but it's been indirectly nerfed since 1.2 |

pre 1.4 they were my main weapon. afterwards it just went downhill...
the only thing worse than the hit detection now is the accursed frame rate when using them.
How exactly does a Biscuit gain Valor?

Better off with any other sideman than nova knives.
They are only used for those wanting a challenge and change of pace.

I use them as a sidearm but thinking of booting them since CCP has made them almost useless...i went to assassinate someone and it didn't even touch the dude at point blank...fully charged..

I don't always use nova knives. But when I do, they're my primary weapon.
Also, Why must a sidearm mean secondary weapon?

I have them as a side arm for my shotgun, use the knives first and finish off with shotgun.

Problem here is the fact they they make a terrible sidearm.
A sidearm complements your main weapon, or acts as a finisher or last resort when caught reloading.
Well, Nova Knives suck as a last resort in a gunfight, and is an even worse finisher (Just melee him!)
Even when complementing your main (Knives/SMG comes to mind. Excellent Short-mid range combo), the knives need to be really specced out to be useful, which then deal so much damage, you use them as a main.
I used to main knives with SMG's, but I have since switched to Assault Scrambler Pistols and SMG's.
Far more useful, and versatile.

Disagree. Why would you need two CQC weapons? When using a Shotgun, an SMG is a much better sidearm, since it has CQC viability and longer range than the shotgun. I.e, if you run out of ammo with the shotty, you can still use an SMG to great effect at close range, and it will help alleviate some of the range problems of the shotgun.
If you get caught at 10-15m with a Shotgun/Nova Knive kit, you better run like hell, because neither weapon is going to be of much use at that range.

Since the hit detection isn't any good it is kinda my sidearm. I try to use it whenever possible though but it isn't what it should be so gets relegated to my sidearm for when an enemy is busy hacking or whatever

Has anyone else noticed that if you are making physical contact with (victim) while there shooting at you especially Heavies, since your SOO close to them you cant get shot because YOUR INSIDE THE SHOOTERS ARMS LENGTH which allows you to knife/shoot/kick them in the Face. |

not going to lie these things have gotten me killed a lot more than than the have gotten me kills. the ADV tier is when you stat to insta kill the majority of med suites.
what is the real damage for knives? I know that I am doing a lot more than the posted damage even with the +20% to shield

ok the damage stated in the descripition for knives is for 1 knife uncharged when u swing if only one knife hits it will do the displayed damage in the description if both knives hit then displayed damage is double. A charge of the knife roughly doubles the amount displayed per knife. so with maxed proficiency and the proto minny suit skill maxed with proto knives you charged damage will be 1428 IF both knives hit |

I use the Proto Knives primary on my scouts, but I use an SMG as the sidearm incase I cockup.
-Flaylock Specialist. I even dual-wield it still. (GîÉGûá_Gûá)
-Likes ramming a HMG up Gallentes rear end.
