The real issue is that CCP just invalided a huge chuck of the non ar like play styles, and I have physically watched friends and family play the different roles/weapons ranging from hmg heavies, MD users, and I scout, all of us range from 8 to 15 million sp, and all were very functional before hand. Yet their ability to perform has has taken nose dives,
Now we should be asking why,
The rest of the play styles were designed around certain mechanics that usually eat up more time. Other shooters with short TTK like Kill zone had balance based off of short TTK, Dust did not base things around short TTK, so essentially CCP just put COD mechanics in with Dust's old model.
Instantaneous pin point accuracy with a .1-3.0 second death inducing auto fire without mechanics designed around that functionality is the issue.
Hit detection means two things, greater dps and greater range
Scouts are not hurt in the slightest is you increased the dps to 10000 dps for all I care, our ehp is nothing, bu the massive accuracy and the massive range essentially blocks off scouts from moving and effectively on lock down, which is backwards for a suit that made trade offs for mobility with no real solid stealth.
But essentially, CCP introduced low TTK mechanics without even thinking about the other aspects of the game that were build around a longer TTK.
I don't use the MD but by buffing insane hitboxes, MDs should fire even faster to keep up with the other weapons, this was not changed and accuracy was never an MD issue. So either MDs were severely op for months now or they forgot about travel time and MD's are gimped now without considering how the changes effect different weapons differently.
The scariest part is that no alarms were set off by CCP in any test sever apparently, which ultimately makes me worried if anything has been tested with 1.7. It could also be that CCP has some distant build where everything works with all the appropriate mechanics and didn't see this coming, I honestly think CCP's balancing team is a two man unit theory crafting what sounds good from a top down approach. I think CCP would benefit by hiring a bunch of kids and stick them with one suit and one weapon and see how they perform.
Thoughts?

I use the Burst AR on my mid frames. The 'improved' hit detection has not effected it at all. Therefore I can't field it any more, I get destroyed too quickly to use its advantages.

Thoughts? When I first started playing this game in July it was impossible to join a match where 8 out of 16 players weren't spamming Mass Drivers in your face. Since then the amount of MD users has diminished. For whatever reason, this brings great happiness to me. If I wanted to get "noob tubed" I would have stuck to CoD. Occasionally I'll run into an MD player who uses it as its meant to be used, distract/deter enemies from pushing an objective.
BTW, Assault MDs fire faster than regular MDs. Assault MDs are still a very viable option to all MD users who want to rambo into groups of enemies for large amounts of kills.
You can make the argument the game went from MD514 to AR514 and whatever else before that. Regardless there will always be OP and UP weapons, its part of any FPS. Doesn't bother me at all. Its something we all have to deal with... or you can just QQ on the forums about everything... |

Quite a gift you have there, jumped on one point and didn't even read the basis of it,
The MD point was based on the fact that CCP is having one hell of a time with balance, with extremely radical *****, changes to to something like hit detection which I am sure they did not intend to have the massive effect to everything else. Also never have MDs been 50% of the population, they got a jump after the flaylock nerf but were only about 20 to 30% of the population at most.
Also, the idea that literally one already dominate play style can be boosted to never before seen levels to effectively nullify such a large group of niche that its effectively broke. Everything from the HMG, to the flaylock, to scouts were the result of AR QQs, if we are to measure QQing, I can pull more threads with Ar users asking for a wider range of nerfs on a more diversified set of suits/weapons.

Thoughts? maybe the CCP balancing team uses mainly ARs?
but seriously, i dont understand how they didnt see this when testing. ive talked to some fellow scouts and they've told me that there is no noticeable difference in nova knives hit detection. Shotguns apparently are working, but now an AR can kill a scout running at almost 10.5 m/s in under one second.
this game caters to anyone who uses an assault rifle. that is pretty much the easiest way to win at this game. patch after patch the AR gets buffed and everything else nerfed, even if indirectly. for example, in 1.3 there was a glitch that made it possible to sprint and charge Nova Knives at the same time. after the glitch was leaked, CCP promptly removed the glitch and simultaneously broke the hit detection on them as well. this all happened at the same time aim assist came in, putting scouts (and heavies) on the bottom of the food chain. the true scouts adapted and took on the world (literally) and won almost every time.
1.6 was supposed to be the patch that fixed Nova Knives. all of us scouts were so excited about this. it's almost typical that CCP failed to fix them AGAIN while at the same time further decreasing the TTK for the Assault Rifle.
i honestly have no idea what makes them think that doing this will draw in players, because if you know me, i am quite loyal to this game and always try to give it the benefit of the doubt. but this is really getting old.
based on past experience, 1.7 will promise big things, but will not live up to them.
all i can hope for at this point is for CCP to prove me wrong...

I switched my Burst for the TAC and it hasn't been as bad.
I still get murdered by Duvolles though. One thing they need to fix is when I'm on a hill walking down or up and the scope goes crazy and starts going into the rock or pieces of it disappears obscuring my view of the enemy. Also change the dot of the scope. I swear I'm hitting the enemy but the little white dot blends in with everything else. |

I didn't even consider how the burst was effected, good to know

The only reason ppl got killed constantly by MDs was because AR abusers don't take the time to hunt them out and kill them if they work to get the high ground then you need to work to remove them or just sit on the ground and keep dying. I love the MD tears. I still get hatemail all the time. I can kill all kinds of ppl with an AR yet I switch to the MD and get hatemail. I also love the noob tube thing. Id like to show you sometime how much of a noob I am with it. I can track you across a map with it and that isn't easy to do. |
