Hi Nemo, I'm part of the Legions leadership group. I have been around since the second wave of Beta keys were sent out at Dusts Launch. I'm not intelligent and my gun game is a bizarre spray and pray method that includes a lot of flailing about like a spastic.
All I can offer you is my opinion, based on my experiences and history with our Corp.
Building a PC Corp is a long term goal, and it takes a lot of patience and heap of work. But with the right attitude it can be done, and despite being stressful it is a rewarding experience - personally, socially and financially.
I would suggest the following points of action.
- Organise your current ten guys into specialised roles - (Logi+Uplinks+Scanner, Heavy+HMG, Assault+Nanohives,Scout+Shotgun+Scanner, Tanker+Swarm Launcher as examples)
- Discuss an effective skill training plan with each guy - focus/specialise the training for Proto gear.
- Start smashing Ambush and Domination as a full squad on your regional server. There is no better advertising for your group than dominating a match and winning. You will probably start seeing the odd Corporation Application coming in from randoms, grab them and add them to your ranks. Focus their training too, and role specialisation. This is also a chance to start thinking tactically with your squad and practicing true teamwork, and discipline to follow orders.
- Practice good voice comms - e.g. replace "Ah **** a Sniper got me f**k" with "Red Sniper, East of Alpha". Waffling and raging like a moron on comms is a sure fire way to have no one want to squad with you. It distracts the team, it blocks useful intel and it's annoying.
- Once your active Corp Numbers have grown from pub stomping, and you feel your guys have mastered the Rush, Capture and Defend phases of Skirmish - pick some smaller Corps districts to have a go at invading with clone packs.
- Attack a district and gauge your success, if you get smashed move on to a new target. If you have a close game, perhaps try once more.
- Repeat until you succeed.
- Know your limits - don't cap too many Districts :). Assume one hour of gameplay required per day - per district.
- Expect to be utterly decimated at any time - there is always a bigger fish. It pays to hold no attachment to districts, you will only be disappointed when it is inevitably removed from your ward. You have to be philosophical about these things.
- Oh and never, ever, name a district or a planet.
Hopefully you can extract some motivation from this - see you in battle!
