Hello vets? Not sure if u have a term or not. I have been playing since the beta. I stopped playing for 6 months. Was happy to see the xp and sp I accumulated. Not knowing where to put it I have some in the good and some pointless skills. I joined a corporation yet not sure what it does or how to contribute. Just last night I squared up for the first time. Now that you see how or what kind d of player I am or lack of. Does anyone else have any tips on what I should focus on? Besides the typical use the free drops suits and play lots. Any and all tips are appreciated.

What is your preferred playstyle?
Aggressive or defensive?
Long range or CQC?
Precise aim or spray and pray?
Do you like to move fast or slow?
Do you play support or are you a slayer?
Vehicles or AV?
So many questions you need to ask yourself.

Try and skill into a suit that synergizes with the weapons/equipment that you use. For example, if you like to use the scrambler or laser rifles, the amarr assault skill will reduce the heat build up speed by 5% per level in that skill. |

Yes I know there are many post and threads about this. But I am not looking for the obvious. Not looking for u to devoluge your secrets either. Not the best fps to start with so anything to give me an edge to become even average is a bonus. Also in regards to the move controller. I have read many posts how its the worst form of controller in the game is this true? |

In regards to the Move...don't use it. Not recommended at all. As far as divulging secrets, I have no problem with that. Probably best to answer the questions on my reply and I will give my opinion on what may work best for you. Opinions of others may vary. At least you are asking and not wasting SP on things you may hate.

Do you like to move fast or slow? Always sprinting to hack anything for points
Do you play support or are you a slayer? Not skilled enuf to be a slayer. Support I would say.

The move controller is the worst period. Also, to find secrets of your own..you must delve deep within yourself and ask yourself....what suits me best?...what do i have the most fun playing as?...are pomogranates a vegetable?..can pigs really fly?...then...then you will find your answer to this thread.

Good responses. Based on what you gave, I would strongly recommend skilling into the Logi role, with an AR as your main (may also want to think about skilling into Mass Drivers, as they are more "forgiving" in the aim department and are a perfect companion to a Logi).
I would assume that besides skilling into the obvious suit, nanohives, drop uplinks and especially now, Repair tools, will net you FAR more War Points that hacking alone. Leave that to the Scouts or whoever is closer to do the hack.
Now, which Logi suit suits you best is not my niche, as I run strictly assault. Let the Logis help you on suit and equipment preference.

Okay Logi. What's that? Logistics as in sniper suits but with the AR. What are mass drivers? Assume they are a weapon. Shotgun? I have my AR skills maxed besides the proficiency. I am really lost when it come to the drop suits. I know I should add skills to one at a time just not sure which one to start. I appreciate all the input including the smart Alec remarks lol
Also game modes. I play the first 2. What are the last 2. Special events and corporate events? |

No, snipers usually run in Scout suits. Logistics are the medic/equipment/support role dropsuit. They have more equipment slots available so you can support your team by reviving them, repairing them, laying down ammunition, strategically placing uplinks or scanning for enemies by using the Active scanner. Ultimate support role.
My suggestion? Choose your logistics suit, then skill into nanohives, uplinks and repair tool. Those will get you a good amount of WP per match. Since you are not really a slayer, hold off of skilling up your AR. Your SP will be better spent elsewhere, presumably on the things I mentioned above.

Mass drivers are grenade launchers.
Corporation contracts are special contracts that are only relavent if your corp is participating in Planetary Conquest. Ignore those. If there is a PC match scheduled, your corp should notify you in advance and certain members only have permissions to enter them.
Special contracts are usually CCP sponsered events.

I suggest you create your two alts if you haven't already and don't spend a single skill point until you play around with other weapons and roles until you find what you like. Maybe make 1 logistics alt and one vehicle alt? Experiment with these or other roles before committing all of your SP into your main account. Just a suggestion.

[Always useful to have these skills]: Max out engineering (or get to lv4): gives you more PG to fit stuff on your suits, also unlocks PG mods. Max out electronics (or get to lv4): gives you more CPU to fit stuff on your suits, also unlocks CPU mods. Max out armor upgrades: increases the base armor of your suits Max out armor plating: increases the HP of armor plates, and unlocks complex armor plates Max out shield upgrades: increases the base shields of your suits Max out shield extension: increases the HP of shield extenders, and unlocks complex shield extenders. Max out handheld weapon upgrades: reduces the CPU consumption of damage mods, and unlocks complex damage mods Max out core upgrades: more PG/CPU Max out light weapon operation: reduces CPU consumption of light weapon. Might want to do the same for the sidearm one, or heavy weapon one if you're a heavy. Max out demolition: Reduces CPU consumption of explosives Max out biotic upgrades: more sprint speed, stamina, and stamina recovery Max out nanocircuitry: reduces CPU consumption of nanite injectors and nanohives (unlisted bonus) and unlocks better injectors and hives. Max out system hacking: makes you hack faster, and unlocks hack speed mods.
[Dropsuit choice] Amarr heavy: lots of HP, can use heavy weapon, no equipment slot, and very slow. Once the skill is at lv3, you can unlock 2 different specialization suits: >Sentinel: basically like the basic heavy, but better since it gets a bonus based on the sentinel skill level; reloading heavy weapons faster, and a useless bonus to feedback damage reduction. >Commando: no heavy weapon slot, but can wield 2 light weapons, and gets an equipment slot. Has a bonus to shield and armor mods, and light/sidearm weapon reload speed.
Amarr medium: lots of HP, relatively slow compared to other medium frames, not many module slots, has a good balance between high and low slots. Once the skill is at lv3, you can unlock 2 different specialization suits: >Assault: basically like the basic medium, but with a bonus to laser weapons, and shield recharge rate. If you want to use laser rifle, or scrambler rifle, this is the suit to get; it allows you to fire longer before overheating. >Logistics: has slightly less base HP, but has 1 more low slot then its assault counterpart, and can carry more equipment (carries 3 prototype tier). Has a bonus to armor repair, and effectiveness of armor repair mods. This is the ONLY logi that has a sidearm.
Gallente medium: lots of low slots for armor tanking, or other mods. Decent base HP, speed, etc. Once the skill is at lv3, you can unlock 2 different specialization suits: >Assault: basically like the basic medium, but with a bonus to PG/CPU reduction of hybrid weapons (AR, sniper rifle, plasma cannon, shotgun), and shield recharge rate. >Logistics: has slightly less base HP, but has 1 more low slot then its assault counterpart, and can carry more equipment (carries 4 at prototype tier). Has a bonus to armor repair, and PG/CPU consumption reduction of equipment.
Caldari medium: lots of high slots for shield tanking, or damage mods. Decent base HP, speed, etc. Once the skill is at lv3, you can unlock 2 different specialization suits: >Assault: basically like the basic medium, but with a bonus to shield extender efficacy, and shield recharge rate. >Logistics: has slightly less base HP, but has 1 more low slot AND 1 more high slot then its assault counterpart, and can carry more equipment (carries 3 at prototype tier). Has a bonus to armor repair, and shield regulator mods. This suit has the most module slots in the game.
Minmatar medium: lots of high slots for shield tanking, or damage mods. Lowest base HP, but highest speed among medium frames. Once the skill is at lv3, you can unlock 2 different specialization suits: >Assault: basically like the basic medium, but with a bonus to sidearm magazine size, and shield recharge rate. >Logistics: has slightly less base HP, but has 1 more low slot then its assault counterpart, and can carry more equipment (carries 4 at prototype tier). Has a bonus to armor repair, and hacking speed.
Gallente light: fast, low HP, high/fast shield recharge. Once the skill is at lv3, you can unlock 1 specialization suit: >Gallente scout: basically a basic light, but better because it gets a bonus to profile dampening (makes you harder to spot), and passive scanning range (you can scan people further).
Minmatar light: fastest suit in the game, high/fast shield recharge, but has the least HP. Once the skill is at lv3, you can unlock 1 specialization suit: >Minmatar scout: basically a basic light, but better because it gets a bonus to profile dampening (makes you harder to spot), and nova knife + melee damage.
[Weapons] Light weapons: >Assault rifle: fully automatic rifle (has a bunch of variants). Hybrid-plasma. Does 10% more damage to shields, 10% less to armor. >Scrambler rifle: high damage semi-automatic AR with with charge shot feature for more damage (has an auomatic variant). Laser tech. Does 20% more damage to shields, 20% less to armor. >Shotgun: a shotgun, close range and high damage. Hybrid-plasma. Does 10% more damage to shields, 10% less to armor. >Sniper rifle: High range, high damage semi-automatic (has charge and tactical variants). Hybrid-railgun. Does 10% less damage to shields, 10% more to armor. >Mass driver: semi-automatic grenade launcher that fires slow traveling arcing grenades (has assault and breach variant). Explosive. Does 30% less damage to shields, 30% more to armor. >Swarm launcher: lockon, fires multiple missiles at once that track and follow vehicles (has variants). Explosive. Does 30% less damage to shields, 30% more to armor. >Plasma cannon: single-shot high damage slowly traveling and arcing plasma rocket. Hybrid-plasma. Does 10% more damage to shields, 10% less to armor.

Don't spend any further sp until you are getting good information. The mere fact you are asking this on the forums makes me assume that your corp are rubbish at offering help or you wouldn't be here asking.
If you have friends in there get an invite into a public channel so you can keep in touch then leave them and join a more helpful corp. Dust uni, bojo's school.
Most Corps have good support, however these are very good training corps. A lot has changed in 6 months.
You must have blueprint suits from back in the day use these for now until you get the feedback/support you need to specialise.
Get back to the basics, have fun, gain knowledge not only of yourself but knowledge of the many many encounters you will lose. You will soon start thinking I want to do that and you will be in the right place to ask questions on that play style.
The only thing I will add is then invest into the basics of that play style to try it before committing.
Oh and ALWAYS remember never invest into FOTM unless it's your play style anyway.
CCP will more than likely change the stats on any/all weapons and will probably change things on your suit. So skill into your play style and you will still have fun.
Your can still run with your corp through their public channel |
