[Always useful to have these skills]: Max out engineering (or get to lv4): gives you more PG to fit stuff on your suits, also unlocks PG mods. Max out electronics (or get to lv4): gives you more CPU to fit stuff on your suits, also unlocks CPU mods. Max out armor upgrades: increases the base armor of your suits Max out armor plating: increases the HP of armor plates, and unlocks complex armor plates Max out shield upgrades: increases the base shields of your suits Max out shield extension: increases the HP of shield extenders, and unlocks complex shield extenders. Max out handheld weapon upgrades: reduces the CPU consumption of damage mods, and unlocks complex damage mods Max out core upgrades: more PG/CPU Max out light weapon operation: reduces CPU consumption of light weapon. Might want to do the same for the sidearm one, or heavy weapon one if you're a heavy. Max out demolition: Reduces CPU consumption of explosives Max out biotic upgrades: more sprint speed, stamina, and stamina recovery Max out nanocircuitry: reduces CPU consumption of nanite injectors and nanohives (unlisted bonus) and unlocks better injectors and hives. Max out system hacking: makes you hack faster, and unlocks hack speed mods.
[Dropsuit choice] Amarr heavy: lots of HP, can use heavy weapon, no equipment slot, and very slow. Once the skill is at lv3, you can unlock 2 different specialization suits: >Sentinel: basically like the basic heavy, but better since it gets a bonus based on the sentinel skill level; reloading heavy weapons faster, and a useless bonus to feedback damage reduction. >Commando: no heavy weapon slot, but can wield 2 light weapons, and gets an equipment slot. Has a bonus to shield and armor mods, and light/sidearm weapon reload speed.
Amarr medium: lots of HP, relatively slow compared to other medium frames, not many module slots, has a good balance between high and low slots. Once the skill is at lv3, you can unlock 2 different specialization suits: >Assault: basically like the basic medium, but with a bonus to laser weapons, and shield recharge rate. If you want to use laser rifle, or scrambler rifle, this is the suit to get; it allows you to fire longer before overheating. >Logistics: has slightly less base HP, but has 1 more low slot then its assault counterpart, and can carry more equipment (carries 3 prototype tier). Has a bonus to armor repair, and effectiveness of armor repair mods. This is the ONLY logi that has a sidearm.
Gallente medium: lots of low slots for armor tanking, or other mods. Decent base HP, speed, etc. Once the skill is at lv3, you can unlock 2 different specialization suits: >Assault: basically like the basic medium, but with a bonus to PG/CPU reduction of hybrid weapons (AR, sniper rifle, plasma cannon, shotgun), and shield recharge rate. >Logistics: has slightly less base HP, but has 1 more low slot then its assault counterpart, and can carry more equipment (carries 4 at prototype tier). Has a bonus to armor repair, and PG/CPU consumption reduction of equipment.
Caldari medium: lots of high slots for shield tanking, or damage mods. Decent base HP, speed, etc. Once the skill is at lv3, you can unlock 2 different specialization suits: >Assault: basically like the basic medium, but with a bonus to shield extender efficacy, and shield recharge rate. >Logistics: has slightly less base HP, but has 1 more low slot AND 1 more high slot then its assault counterpart, and can carry more equipment (carries 3 at prototype tier). Has a bonus to armor repair, and shield regulator mods. This suit has the most module slots in the game.
Minmatar medium: lots of high slots for shield tanking, or damage mods. Lowest base HP, but highest speed among medium frames. Once the skill is at lv3, you can unlock 2 different specialization suits: >Assault: basically like the basic medium, but with a bonus to sidearm magazine size, and shield recharge rate. >Logistics: has slightly less base HP, but has 1 more low slot then its assault counterpart, and can carry more equipment (carries 4 at prototype tier). Has a bonus to armor repair, and hacking speed.
Gallente light: fast, low HP, high/fast shield recharge. Once the skill is at lv3, you can unlock 1 specialization suit: >Gallente scout: basically a basic light, but better because it gets a bonus to profile dampening (makes you harder to spot), and passive scanning range (you can scan people further).
Minmatar light: fastest suit in the game, high/fast shield recharge, but has the least HP. Once the skill is at lv3, you can unlock 1 specialization suit: >Minmatar scout: basically a basic light, but better because it gets a bonus to profile dampening (makes you harder to spot), and nova knife + melee damage.
[Weapons] Light weapons: >Assault rifle: fully automatic rifle (has a bunch of variants). Hybrid-plasma. Does 10% more damage to shields, 10% less to armor. >Scrambler rifle: high damage semi-automatic AR with with charge shot feature for more damage (has an auomatic variant). Laser tech. Does 20% more damage to shields, 20% less to armor. >Shotgun: a shotgun, close range and high damage. Hybrid-plasma. Does 10% more damage to shields, 10% less to armor. >Sniper rifle: High range, high damage semi-automatic (has charge and tactical variants). Hybrid-railgun. Does 10% less damage to shields, 10% more to armor. >Mass driver: semi-automatic grenade launcher that fires slow traveling arcing grenades (has assault and breach variant). Explosive. Does 30% less damage to shields, 30% more to armor. >Swarm launcher: lockon, fires multiple missiles at once that track and follow vehicles (has variants). Explosive. Does 30% less damage to shields, 30% more to armor. >Plasma cannon: single-shot high damage slowly traveling and arcing plasma rocket. Hybrid-plasma. Does 10% more damage to shields, 10% less to armor.

Explosive; does 30% less damage to shields, 30% more to armor. >Nova knives: high damage close range knives, with optional charge. Unknown type; unknown damage profile.
Heavy >HMG: fully automatic, high damage per second, short range gun. Projectile; does 5% less damage to shields, 10% more to armor. > Forge gun: high range, high damage semi-automatic, and needs to charge (has assault and breach variants).
