I have been around Dust since the code giveaway days and I must day that the dust economy is basically screwed. And this has big impact on the lolnew people trying to join Dust.
If anyone remembers when we had the first respec most of us got ISK based on the values of of our assets. I remember I had over 350 million ISK in assets at that time most of which I donated to R*S.
Then came PC and like a lot of good players I cashed in being on the R*S and SyN teams that PCed a lot. I also rang in for EON corps and made a tidy bit of ISK.
I am worth over 500 million ISK right now. Its chump change compared to some and more than what certain alliances have right now. My proto dropsuit costs me 147000 ISK fully fitted. Lets do some math for you numnuts here;-
500,000,000 / 147,000 = 3400
Thats 3400 proto dropsuits I can run without making a single ISK and still pubstomp. I am back to sniping again and the odds are that you aint ever going to kill me. You can try but most likely you will fail!
So you see I can keep pubstomping you wannabes and literally make a killing without doing much. My 500 million ISK provides me enough cushions.
Now think about the guys who have districts and are getting passive ISK. Take for example those worthless clowns in AE. As of this post they own 33 districts and are making at a minimum ;- 8000000 * 33 = 264,000,000 a day passive ISK. People like these get rich fast. Red Star has a proto pub stomp policy.
So essentially what CCP has done is screw up the Dust economy by having ISK rewards for holding districts in PC. Now any new corp will never have a chance because they dont have the appropriate funds. I know some of the corps that have retired have saved billions of ISK in alt corps to come back if and when Dust becomes a bit decent.
CCP needs to re-evaluate passive ISK paymnents for holding districts or come up with better FW payouts to improve the economy.
Whether they wanna face it or not the Dust economy is toast!
How they are going to fix would be an interesting task!
PS: I have used 2 cardinal sins of forum posting here;- Common Sense and Logic!

still not seeing why it's screwed....
when market opens up most of that money will get sunk into officer weapons for players, post that new tanks and stuff will eat millions.
supply and demand is a *****, and after a couple of months of players buying and burning throguh officer weapons like they are candy, that supply is probably going ot start to burn up a bit and their price will be in the high 10's of millions until better isk sinks come out.
eventually more isk sinks will come out as well turning the pultry millions we have currently into something similar to eve where billions don't mean ****.
the only reason you can be happy with our current money is that their is simply nothing to really spend it on, but that won't always be the case. |

The economy will come waaaaaaay after factional warfare has been revamped and after PC has been overhauled. If you look at factional warfare changes being proposed, it will become a massive ISK sink which is a good thing for now. On top of that, CCP has made recent changes to PC battles which means you can no longer make a profit by simply locking districts. You have to actually fight to make a profit.
Let's also not forget the fact that the incoming economy will have players having full control of the prices of the items bought and sold on the market. Expect your proto suit to cost you 10 million ISK in the future.
CCP, please fix the Nova Knives. Thank you.

When the open market comes in:
>Close the NPC market. >Give EVE players the ability to make our gear. >Make the raw materials needed to make said gear only available in Dust.
There, market fixed.

CCP has stated that they want to remove clone sales as the bonus for holding districts in the longer term and are reducing the value of holding districts shortly by making it more profitable to fight than just sit and farm.
But I agree that there is a wasted potential in just farming ISK as it really leads to nothing right now. Sure, you could pub stomp but that just makes games boring.
The only way that I could see this actually being worth something is if CCP finally truely links EVE and DUST where districts produce resources rather than just rollover ISK. Corps can either use the resources for manufacturing weapons via an EVE corp or sell them on the market (actively, not passively).

This is my situation.
I run Heavy (because I'm not such a good player). My load-out is around 52'000 ISK.
My average game brings me 200'000 to 250'000 ISK total.
But I also die an average of 5 times per game.
I fluctuate around 2mil. Cannot seam to get out of this whole right now!
Thank you. |

Exactly the point I am trying to make. I could just grief you for ***** and giggles by constantly targetting you and killing you. I could make you loose 20 suits while loosing 40 suits and still have enough to keep coming at you just to make you quit.
I guess CCP didnt learn their lesson with Eve!

the economy will remain ****** for as long as the passive faucet is allowed to be on.
Unless CCP takes back the money, which will kill retention for those who lost ISK, which might not be a bad thing but is damn sure not a good thing either.

Yes, not only is PC a cancer to this game but it doesn't even work. The amount of lag alone has discouraged people from wanting to get into/ back into PC matches.

I doubt 10M but it will probably push the price up really high. There is no supply side, only demand and that will screw any economy up. We don't have an economy, we have a store. ISK is undervalued and too easy to make.
