Had an idea for scout suits, what do you think?

Thou hast summon me! I like it, does make sense that less armor would mean more speed. I wouldn't want it as a skill bonus, but as a built-in feature.

EDIT: 1st Lieutenant Tiberius wrote:What if instead scouts had the ability to "shed" their armor for a temporary burst of speed
Risk vs. Reward The way this is proposed is even cooler than the linked OP since it gives control to the players.
So what it would be is: Built in feature of Scout suits
Gallente Scout: Able to "Shed" a specific amount of armor for a temporary increase in base speed; Nanites no longer focus on repairing armor and instead strengthens and overclocks the users muscles for increased biotic ability. Lasts for a specific amount of time and goes to cool down (Maybe even no cooldown since it would require that the scout shed its current armor to achieve an increased sprint speed, Shedding too often will lead to death
Minmatar Scout: Able to delegate shield generator power into increasing the suit's biotic ability thus augmenting the user's sprint speed for as long as shields allow (more shields, longer augmented sprint duration) effectively turning the shield generator into a makeshift suit capacitor; those crafty duct tape engineers.
Kira suggested that the minmatar scout use its shields as an augmented stamina bar, but this would only be useful for the suit if they buffed the Minja's innate sprint speed
thoughts? comments? concerns?

Hmmm ...
200HP (Scout sheds armor, enters "Escape Mode") ... TTK 0.3 to 0.6 seconds under Duvolle Fire ... Insta-gibbed at 0 meters to 100 meters ... consistently
Sprinting away at 11 m/s doesn't work now (tested and confirmed ... not viable). High speed "Escape Mode" would likely be equally ineffective.
Why not ...
"Escape Mode" - Scout disappears from field of vision (i.e. cloak) and sneaks away? |

Should it work the same way? Cloak sacrifices armor and shields?

It could be said -- quite accurately -- that a Scout has already sacrificed armor and shields. |

Well this will be where we propose changes to current scouts stats, because frankly it is garbage.
EDIT: why did you edit out the part where you said you liked how i think?? did you change your mind? :(

Edited applied to prevent potential misunderstanding by reader. Will clarify.
I do, in fact, like how you think. Well-structured, well-written; posits concept/solution vs posting QQ; solicits input/feedback. Welcomes criticism.
... not to be confused with "I like this particular idea" ...
Clever concept ... potential for further consideration exists once fleshed out ... Yet presents with drawbacks of "quid pro quo" or "zero sum game" ... Therefore likely falls short of mark, if goal is "balance" for humble Scout ...

Yet presents with drawbacks, "quid pro quo" or "zero sum game". Ergo short of mark, if goal is to buff Scout in pursuit of Balance. Concern: Mechanical limitations prevent substantial speed boost; massive speed boost would be required for successful evasion, especially at lowered HP. Sound in concept; flawed in practice. Would not personally use. Cannot "approve" of concept in present state. Though well-presented :-)
Thanks for your kind words!
So what about the health sacrifice coupled with cloaking ability? Could that fly?

Too many variables to consider when discussing "cloak" ... will defer to experts (CCP). Above all else, Hard Mode -- one hopes -- will remain Hard Mode. Superiority through skill, planning and execution; an intelligent threat to EZ Mode. |
