In this mode your team would be paid to train NPC soldiers in a mock battle. There are two variants of this I've come up with so this'll be the thread for the first version.
In this version you are given training weapons, armor, and equipment.
Then your team is sent out on the battlefield to fight against((?) I don't know if it should be all players vs all NPCs, or player squad leaders and NPC squad-members) the NPC soldiers in a mock battle.
Everyone is given the same training fittings to choose from and they're all unlimited.
- Combat
-This is essentially the same as an ambush or skirmish battle.
- NPCs
-Each NPC will be identified as being a sniper, logistics, infantry, defender, etc. This will determine their behavior.
- Calculating payment (although you could just ignore everything below this point and just get paid a set amount and have the payers assume you did good in what would be a simple battle using practice weapons)
This is the tricky part. You're supposed to be teaching NPCs to fight better, so how do they know if you did a good job or bad?
-Each NPC will be programmed to behave a certain way (so that their combat is flawed) and it's your job to notice and identify the flaws in battle.
At any point you can pull up the wheel for issuing squad commands and aim at a specific soldier, one of the options on the wheel will be to pull up a list of things you can say the soldier is doing wrong. Once you select that option it will sync with that soldier and give you the list of things that you can tell him he's doing wrong. (this seems like it would be easier to do if it was player squad leader and NPC squadmates instead of player vs NPC)
(this can also be done using the Tacnet map)
- Examples of things you could say a soldier is doing wrong
-Snipers Too close to be effective, move back. Focusing on the wrong enemies (trying to take out heavies instead of the logi keeping them up) Shooting a vehicle........
-Logis Not using repair tool and nanite injector Too far from squadmates to help, get closer. Being too passive during combat, you're not repairing anyone but you're not even trying to shoot the enemies.
-Infantry Spraying and praying Too far from the front lines to be effective, get closer. Firing to long to be accurate, fire in bursts.
etc. etc.

Great addition to the NPE that is needed, I would say all players and before getting deployed into a PVP situation. +1

You aren't telling other players what they're doing wrong, your telling NPCs what they're doing wrong. The players are in charge of their own personal NPC squads and they have to find the flaws in the NPCs battlefield tactic/combat/performance/blegh.
I never said that's all the "classes" (I'd say "roles" work better). There's more than one kind of infantry, more than one kind of AV, more than one kind of logistics. It just so happens that since I'm a LogiBro who uses a repair tool, nanite injector, nanohive, and drop uplink that I said repair them. I could have just as easily said "You've been in that trench for awhile and it looks like you'll be there for a bit longer, your squad is low on ammo, why haven't you dropped a nanohive?"
I can understand a Logi not going into the field without a repair tool (or other piece of equipment) what that statement was about was "If you brought it, why aren't you using it?" The logi they had just happened to be a medic, easier for me to relate to and find flaws in since I carry a repper.
And ya, completely agree on the Draco Cerberus wrote:how do I rep you if I am dead? That's why I maxed out shields and armor so early. (and biotics, cus you need to have a "tactical withdrawl" sometimes) (and why I carry around an Imperial Scrambler Rifle.... well I also carry it so I can be the marksman of squads I'm in, finding key targets in the middle of a firefight and taking them out.)
BTW, what's NPE? |
