As most of us know, November will bring us Uprising 1.6. December will bring 1.7, January 1.8, February 1.9, and then March will bring... 2.0?
Also, think about this for a moment: At EVE Vegas, the new p2p market, FW, and PC builds will all contain 2.0 in their names (Market 2.0, Factional Warfare 2.0, and Planetary Conquest 2.0). They were all estimated to be released sometime in 2014.
Is it just me, or are the 2.0s lining up? We may be seeing some of the largest expansions coming to the non-beta Dust ever, and they may be coming, well, soon.
Any thoughts?

I doubt things are going to change as radically as from Chromosome to Uprising. They'll be releasing expansions, maybe even named expansions, but nothing as radical as Open Beta -> Release, even though many of us doubt that we've even left open beta at all.
I could be wrong though. They might have another go at the SP system, or actually implement tiercide to some degree. Balancing right now is such a massive task and big changes means taking bigger assumptions in terms of balancing which means bigger risk of scaring off the already dwindling player base.

I don't know about you, but huge updates to 3 core mechanics that make Dust unique seem pretty significant. This has nothing to do with weapon/vehicle balancing. We're talking about a redefined Factional Warfare that will introduce Loyalty Points and pave the way for p2p trading and a player-driven economy. Also sometime in that time frame is the new Planetary Conquest, which will be entirely different from the current PC. Sure, we won't see as many gameplay mechanic edits as in Uprising 1.0, but we will see immense changes and additions to what gives Dust its definingname.

This I agree. Market, faction warfare, and planetary conquest are the three biggest features of DUST right now. If those that revamped along with weapons and vehicles, then DUST will surely blossom as it should have.

Does anyone know if there'll actually be a named expansion after 1.9( if it goes that far) or if 1.6/ 1.7 will be named expansions since it generally took around 6 months for the next expansion in the past.

Just remember, all of the announced major shifts in FW, PC, et all were clearly caveated with the statement that they would implement them incrementally and not as a transformative version.
I think this is primarily due of CCP learning how much they can take on and respond to post patch deployment. I suspect they are being smart by creating significant, but manageable, blocks of updates that will allow them go deploy the update and swiftly respond to the inevitable friction the patch will incur. |

You did it... You cracked the code.
Though your dates may or may not be off, it is for sure these are things to come.
A big expantion is getting ready to drop in EVE Online and in the background of this drop might be some stepping stones for 2014/Dust514 (I'm not 100%). Now the next BIG drop for EVE won't be until June or so (after fan fest) BUT, with Dust514 our big Drop hit Dec of 2012 and before this, we were given a blog that doesn't seem all that new
so who knows... maybe will see these things sooner then expected |

CCP is not ready to talk about 2.0 yet, CCP still has a roadmap to hammer out and sell to the rest of the company. Hopefully a 1.10 1.11 or 1.12 ect ect will not be required.

My personal feeling is that 1.7 and 1.8 will be the last of the monthly iteration pattern, taking us to early January with 1.8.
Then they'll switch to a slightly longer iteration with 1.9 coming out roughly mid March. There would then be various hot fixes and maybe a 1.9.5 taking us up to Fanfest.
Last Fanfest the Dust Keynote was the first day, so May 1st next year. 2.0 will get announced. Players at Fanfest will get a go on it and it'll be released two weeks later on the 14th, 1 year since Uprising.
This is all complete speculation on my part but its fun to do that every now and again.

They confirmed an expansion is being worked on for Dust at EVE Vegas 2013. Could be "2.0".
