I need ideas for a new suit to spec into. I'm currently considering Caldari Assault or Amarr Assault (I'm also considering Caldari Logi as well :D). Any ideas would be appreciated! :D

I went basic ck0 for the lolz and it's kinda fun, I use it squad ops as an assault suit or if I'm solo as a fast moving sniper

Amarr Assault only if you use the scrambler rifle. If your not using a scram rifle i would go to cal assault or even cal logi.

I have Scrambler Rifle Proficiency 1 and AR Proficiency 4. I use the Assault Rifle more often, but it's more for the cost and less PG/CPU usage.
Cal Logi seems to be the best, but the lower CPU kind turns me off.

The bonus is multiplicative, not additive. So it's actually even higher. |

It depends:
Logistics suits are good if you want to have a reasonably high tank, and lots of equipment (Or just forego equipment quota to be a slayer with lots of slots but no Suit bonus)
For Assault:
Gallente: Great Armor tank, reasonably speedy, and great with weapons like the AR. Great if you want to be stuck in the fight.
Caldari: Amazing shields, good mobility, great at skirmishing, can also be fit with dmg mods to be incredibly deadly at the cost of tank.
Amarr: Able to armor tank and stack dmg mods, but only really shines with the Scrambler Rifle or Laser Rifle, but for those suits it is the best.
Minmatar: Like side weapons? This suit is for you. Can have 100 clip SMGs, be scout levels of fast, with a medium-suit level of speed. (easy to see on radar than a scout though, and can't be as fast as a scout)
Scout / Light suits:
Very light on hp, (many would argue too light), the scout suit is great for infiltration, sneaky gameplay, and speed. Easy to speed tank a scout suit, and you can use them to fly around the battlefield. Can be made impossible to scan, can also be made to have extreme passive scan radius (50m + post 1.6) They don't do well in a straight up fight, so you'll have to sneak up on your enemies with some high alpha weapon (shot gun to face, or knives) to be able to kill before you get killed. Also can be great with a sniper rifle.
Heavy:
Lots of HP, slow, and can use heavy weapons. Forge gun is best gun for AV, (in my opinion), and can be an amazing forge sniper with skill (even more skill post 1.6) HMG can be useful in close, but struggles against higher levels of gear (proto), as the weapon doesn't scale up as well. With Armor tank, and Logi support this thing can soak up tons of fire, even a few head shots from a sniper.

If you itend of using laser rifle or scrambler rifle as your main weapon, then use Amarr assault.

if you like laser weapons armor tanking and running dmg mods grab amarian assault...the amarian logi is a very usefull wp gatherer/hybrid slayer as well works great as av as well..
but i wouldnt go amarian if you dont already have armor maxed |

Oh, wait /o\ I might not follow through with this if Logis are destined to be nerfed. It seems that with all the complaining CCP might actually listen to them and nerf the Logi suits :( If they do I'll just go Caldari Assault.

I went basic ck0 (I was really bored and wanted something new) and use it as an assault suit, it's the best thing since my amarr logi, it's the perfect suit for a Zerg rush on enemy objectives and if the squad leader will change orders every few seconds.

If you want to be top slayer just spec into callogi+AR or more powerfull amar logi+SR. Why play as assault? Play logi, have tons of hp and dmg ,even repping hives. Have a nice day sir. |
