Do you not understand what a Skyfire Battery is? It doesn't prevent orbital bombardments, it just attacks starships. I think there was an old British war quote, "the bomber will always get through". Well, it's true in Dust 514, too. Skyfire Batteries just make it more costly to bombard.

I just think a mechanic with a orbital deflection shield, regardless of what you call it, would be cool. do you think it would be cool? if so, what would you call it? how would you implement the mechanics?
A field that helps protect against orbital bombardment is actually an interesting idea. I have my own spin on it, though, as a defensive structure (not a call-in). It would be for planetary conquest, mostly, not public contracts. Basically, you can install the shield emitter if you control the district. When someone you don't like tries to bombard the district, the shield activates temporarily. The shield will either reduce the accuracy or power of the bombardment, or stop the bombardment outright. The shield wouldn't activate if bombarded by a ship that has security access to the district, so be careful of backstabbers.
