Every so often, especially after disasters, CCP would host a "PLEX for Good" drive with which they ask players to donate any PLEX that they have in stock and they will donate X amount of cash to the charity for every unit of PLEX donated for the cause. If you watch the video about how Extra Life was started its really amazing what little things like gaming do to cheer up sick kids.
