Pulling out an Allotek with 3 dmg mods can definitely be surprisingly deadly and fun. Burst experts, ADS or hipfire, optimal range for hipfiring or simply not worth it? Before I log on and try it out, been a few weeks since I used it last. I strongly recommend finding a small target (the triangle on the legs of an installation work great) and practicing hitting that one day as you strafe. This will train you to aim for small targets and, subsequently, the head of your enemy. I don't recommend trying to land headshots on faster moving targets like Caldari or Minmatar guys (it's less important as they have less HP) but it's very important for other, slower and more durable targets. Once you get into the habit of aiming for the head it's best to know -when- to use that knowledge because if they're directly engaging you it's generally not a good idea to stay aiming down the sights, especially if you're an armor tanker and move more slowly. With that, the burst rifle is amazing in it's design and the flash DPS is incredible for fast moving targets if only for the shock value - a lot of guys will reconsider attacking if they get reduced down to a third of their shields from a single burst. It's flaw, however, is that it's incredibly hard to keep those groupings together with hip-fire and you'll be left with a situation in which it's honestly best just to remove their shields and switch to an SMG due to it's higher armor damage and higher rate of fire (rate of fire is key for hip-fire engagements). Hope that helps. Oh! Love your suit by the way Set as my favorite in the quarters.

Found out the hard way that I am simply not good enough to use the burst effectively, YET. Basically when someone closed grounds on me I was pretty much dead, switched too late to the smg. Personally, I would actually prefer the scrambler ADS on this weapon. |

Burst AR was my favorite before uprising. For some reason it seemed to not be as effective (or maybe it was the weird scope that did it for me).
It could have also been that I took out my million points into ARs and put it into Scrambler Rifles. My favorite part about the burst was how fast you could pound 3 bullets into someone's skull from range. Unfortunately the AR is still super accurate at range which makes the burst almost useless.
I'm saving up for the combat rifle. Should be fun. I'm especially looking forward to that bonus to armor that it will get. I skilled into the scrambler rifle when everyone went shield tank post-uprising and it was super effective. Now that everyone is armor tanking, the Combat Rifle will let me have the advantage once again.

SMH I wish...I am living proof that 1) a mkb user will never truly adapt to the ds3 and 2) proto gear will never beat skill
Well then tell wolfman to fix the kb/m so we aren't forced to use the controller.... |

I've found that leaving the sensitive at 40 on both sides was best for me but sensitivity is to be used to conform to the user. The absolute best mechanic I've seen to date is the Aim Assist (probably why people think it's OP) but remember that that option isn't one sided and that it's available to EVERYONE. Once you have your control scheme locked down it's important (HIGHLY important...) to get used to the DS3 controller. Here's a few tips:
- Remember that the left analog stick requires a level of acceleration whereas the keyboard does not. Your side-to-side movements are going to give a very small, very brief moment where you aren't strafing at top speed due to your thumb having to pull the analog stick to the side and your character to change directions. This minute delay, however brief it is, is still going to give your opponent time to coordinate.
- By consequence of the above, many FPS veterans use Circle Strafing due to the lack of this flaw. It works especially well on Minmatar and Caldari suits who aren't as reliant on HP.
- Move the right analog stick in slow, controlled movements rather than jerky ones. This will, over time, allow you to be more accurate as you get used to how much "pressure" needs to be applied in one direction to put your gun where it needs to be. The best way to do this is, at the start of every match, to try aiming at your friendlies (don't shoot them, you'll just waste ammo). If you can accurate track a sprinting friendly with no aim assist (by default) you can feel safe in the knowledge that you can probably track the average enemy.
- Don't always try to put the crosshair directly on the target, let aim assist do that work for you. If you can put the cross hair -NEAR- the target (where it lights up red) than you can use L1 to aim down the sight and it will bring the weapon closer to your target.
- Only use ADS when the target isn't firing at you, as previously stated. Alternatively, if you feel comfortable with doing so, you can use it intermittenly as a method of attempting to get your enemy to 'over-shoot' their aim and allow you a brief moment of accurate fire.
- Always, always, ALWAYS stay mobile. I see so many new players stand still to shoot and it always punches me in the gut because I feel like I'm killing puppies.

Have burst assault rifles been buffed? I tried them, but paying for 7k more for a rifle with less damage, the same range fall off, and a lower effective rate of fire, and thereby getting fewer kills and assists (and therefore less pay) was not an option for me. |
