I don't think mercs deserve 'medals, in the official sense of the word. Medals go to mortal soldiers who fight, risking their lives at every turn, for the victory of their faction, for the safety of their families.
We don't have those connections. But besides that point, I agree that I'd like some award to acknowledge my achievements. But now I can't think of anything else to call it. Battlefield achievements?
How do we describe the achievements of an immortal clone? Things which form the timeline of this clone's active term. Hmm...

How do we describe the achievements of an immortal clone? Things which form the timeline of this clone's active term. Hmm... But Immortal cloning tech is no guarantee that you will not die. Technical failure of implants, implant being destroyed before death, etc. There is every chance that a mercenary can and could be killed in combat, however unlikely that is. Medals are, as I see them a means for corporations, especially in my case a loyalist corporation of showing devotion, skill at arms, and more. I do not think that because we attach the term mercenary to ourselves that we are not eligible for medals. It is a sand box, I am not a mercenary, I am a loyalist and a soldier of the empire. As for links to the Amarrian authorities, Ministry of War, Ministry of Internal Order, etc. PIE has been mentioned directly in cannon as being given medals of the highest honour by the Empire. I have the connections I assure you.
I see medals as symbols of the gratitude and the respect the giver and all he or she represents, towards the receiver. This idea in particular isn't exactly full of such meaning, hence why I questioned the word 'medal' in particular. In this regard I agree medals for devotion are acceptable, but not exactly for skill at arms. And in terms of this thread, it's all about skill at arms and celebrating battlefield achievements, which is why I prefer the switch to badges. Medals aren't meant to celebrate those kinds of achievements, IMO.
And on the off chance a clone is killed absolutely, by who will his medals, or anything, be remembered? The clones he fought with? The mortals soldiers who fear us? The rest of the universe 'on the sidelines' who don't understand us? A family? Not every clone will have connections like your Templar and his Satja. Even then the connection is isolated. A girlfriend, a wife a child. A medal is more than that. It, like the American MoH, can represent the gratitude of entire countries. But how will you be remembered by those who didn't know you, in the whole wide world or in this case, a whole universe?
Medals keep the actions of a person in perspective even after the awarded is dead and gone, but from what perspective can we view an immortal clone, killing for a living? Will a medal remind those he killed and harmed that it was for faith, or that the system is truly corrupt in that everyone is the good guy to themselves?
And I knew the only people who would've argued this point was going to be PIE.

Also excuse my english it's not my native language
Hahah it should be me apologising. We did go a little off-topic.
But anyway, still agree this would be fun to have. Just worried CCP has so much to do we won't see these kind of features for a while.
