I'm sorta the same way, with one condition. If I start the match from the beginning, I'll tough it out to the end 99% of the time. But I've learned all too often that even if a match has started just 5 minutes into before I show up, the ISK payouts are so pitifully low that it isn't even worth it. You bust your ass to carry that damn team to victory and end up with a 160K payout compared to a 250-300K+ payout were you there from the beginning.
The amount of ISK you get from just being there from the beginning of the match is downright absurd. I don't know what formula CCP is using, but I've had several instances seeing some strange transactions happening in my wallet.
Example:
Que into a match with no time waiting in the warbarge. Get into the match and take a quick look at the teams. My team, Team Militia vs. two full squads. GG CCP MATCHMAKING. You win this time. I bail out just as the first point is being taken and find a new gamemode to play.
Play two more matches and check my wallet transactions for the hell of it afterwards. I have 3 transactions, two from the games I played completely and from the game I was there for less than 3 minutes. While the two are typical high ISK payouts, the 3rd one is still around 100K, for just being there at the beginning. The match ended in a loss, but I still received an absurd payout just because I was there when the game started. =\
There is just too much reward for participation, even when you don't participate. -_- |
