I'm thinking of branching out to... something else than Minlogi and naturally Min assault came to mind since it won't eat so much SP to start whole new tree from the beginning.
But the benefit of going Min assault seem negligible.

Looking at the numbers, it's slightly disappointing. It seems I can't fit anything sensible at advanced level. Try to max out the speed advantage? Yeah good luck with that. Max out shields? Meh.
It seems Caldari assault is easily best for slaying with its shield recharge rate.

So the Min assault is sort of scout with steroids then.
I have seen the might of SMGs so slapping them on the suit, coupled with speed bonus and sidearm clip bonus would indeed make it formidable.

Using the fitting tool (which might be outdated), the CPU just isn't enough. |

I'm assuming you maxed out innates? Do you have the link to the tool?

I tried it with pistols (as you mentioned) and it still does not fit even with all skills at 5, so you have to have it wrong... |

That is exactly what I was afraid of, but after playing with the fitting tool it doesn't seem to bad.
Of course, as earlier stated I cannot fit prototype primary/sidearm weapon without making compromises but then again, I think it's the same with other assaults also.
