So... I am in Mexico on business and my fellow worker and I decided to rent a car to score some time about town and get good food... here is a taste of rural Veracruz food (Coatzacoalcos)
Note: 1 USD = 12.25 pesos
First serving:
Chips and dip PLUS a free shrimp soup that was served with a crawfish like boil like soup... cost? Free

Appetizer:
Only mine is shown in this... it is Ceviche... and it was AMAZING! Cost: 80 pesos... I got the medium size

Scott's dinner:
He got shrimp empanados and for appetizer, queso fundido (the cheese in a bowl with the tortillas). Cost: 80 pesos for the empanadas and 40 pesos for the fundido... both... omg... soooooooo good

My dinner:
I asked for a waiter suggested dinner and he suggested this white fish cooked in tin foil and with other seafood in it... I was full 60% through but couldn't stop... omg it was so good... Cost: $130

Not a lot of cheese on true Mexican food... unless it is queso fundido, and that is pure goat cheese lol |

Well, normally we're escorted everywhere... we decided to rent a car and leave before they showed up, lol. It has been a blast, but the road is scary... these people drive like they have no care for their or anyone else's safety lol |

Bottled water is everywhere (your hotel provides free bottled water) and the ice is safe as long as it Is soaked in alcohol or soda ;D |

Nice! Yea... the food in this area is... amazing. The only place I didn't like was the hotel's food... it was a horrible experience and the food was subpar at best... |

Fire of Prometheus wrote:My favourite food is this. It doesn't look like much but if you eat one, you'll love it. It's called, Gyros, or shawarma (I think that's how it's spelt). Basically it's a Greek food that's lamb, beef or chicken (Or all 3 combined wich is the best version IMO) on a pita with tzatsiki and other toppings )buts it's pretty good with just the meat and pita). You can got it at virtually any Greek restaurant/fast food place in North America, I'm in Canada and I know you can get it at Mr. Greek or other similar restaurants.
Yea, gyros are awesome man... Houston has a huge greek population so we have some good greek restaurants |
