My buddy and I have been waiting for a dual wield option on Dust ever since we saw the Minmitar Logistics Dropsuit photo HERE and we have been debating a possible way to pull it off while keeping the dropsuit fittings the way they are currently set up.
Today I recalled playing Resident Evil - Code: Veronica X where both weapons were included in a single weapon slot. My theory would be, a light weapon fitting of two sidearms with a wider reticle. This way there wouldn't need to be specific suits or equipment needed to use such a setup. There would, of course, be a Dual-Wielding Skillbook required to use such weapons, each level giving a 5% increase to accuracy.
What do you guys think? |

My first thought is, No, reason being is it would totally mess with the balances that are currently in place. If your good with one sidearm it can be just as deadly as an AR, i know its less damaging. But giving people two pistols would make it feel too generic. Just my two cents.
Thank you for your two cents. I agree with both you and Baltazar Pontain in that balancing is important. In my mind, the firearms would have to be modified, smaller, less powerful versions to compensate for the CPU and PG usage of two weapons being in one slot. The accuracy would also take a significant decrease due to not being able to aim down the sights properly. They would be less accurate than a Light Weapon or Sidearm, but combined their hitpoints would fall somewhere between Light Weapon and Sidearm damage. Thank you for the feedback, guys! |

As I have posted, they would be smaller, less powerful, modified versions of our sidearms. Their combined DPS would fall between Light Weapons and Sidearm DPS, plus the drop in accuracy. |

.... but knowing what can be done with a Prototype SMG would be insane. Having two of those would throw off any kind of balance what so ever considering it practically has the same fire-rate as an HMG but with more damage. Accuracy would be a bit off, sure, but when you've got a Scout running around with two of those monsters it could be crazy to balance.
As I have posted, they would not be the Sidearms that we know currently, but smaller, less powerful weapons. Maybe I should change the title of the thread. That's probably where the confusion is coming in. |

Like the Nova Knives, except not neccesarrily melee weapons. Could work.
Exactly. Thank you for your input. |

You would have to fit two identical sidearms(no ScP+SMG or ASMG+BSMG, ect.) in both of your weapon slots.
You could use both of them at the same time by selecting them in the selection wheel, their icon would look like two weapons, and would use the heavy weapon selection area (about 10 o' clock on the wheel).
They would have pros and cons of course.
Pros: -Higher EDPS -Ability to constantly fire by reloading one while the other is firing
Cons: -Less accuracy than a single sidearm -Longer reload times -Faster ammo consumption -No Light Weapons or Heavy Weapons (less range)
I figured they could both be put in the light weapon slot, since it is the most common slot, and light weapons can be placed in heavy weapon slots. The pair would be purchased as exactly that, a pair, and would both occupy one slot. Switching to these would be the same as swapping to your AR mid fight. Reload would be at the same time for both, and firing would by done by pressing the same trigger we always press, resulting in both firearms firing. |

The two would take the place of a heavy or light weapon. The only combos we have right now are HVY+SDRM, LGHT+LGHT, LGHT, and LGHT+SDRM. "Dual Wield" would be your light weapon, technically, leaving you a sidearm, another light weapon, or nothing. |

Why no? I'm looking for input, not absolutions. |
