1) don't make un-manned turrets shoot - pretty straight forward
2)reduce damage to MLT in pubs, STD in FW - they are too powerful especially towards vehicles
3) if they are still AI controlled, make them have some margin of error - right now they just 180 degree swivel to 1 hit kill you...
4) reduce range - a rail or missile turret (unmanned) can shoot your dropship for the entire game leaving you useless, or worse, at a large area of the map, until the turrets are dead (A point on the new map with the giant pillar in the middle, is a perfect example of where this broken, 4 missile turrets barraging your DS at once...
feel free to add on your arguments, not all points are here for my argument, for I am short on time...

Reducing the damage they do also makes them largely useless; they're extremely easy to destroy, which means they don't have very long to shoot at enemies.
Turrets currently have trouble tracking targets; only rarely will you get unlucky and sniped by them these days. Even a heavy suit can strafe back and forth fast enough to take out a blaster turret at 15m.
Turrets are fairly well balanced, though I question the wisdom of placing them so they can snipe points that are 550m away. But my scout can't
Also I didn't mean for all these changes to be implemented, because right now turrets are not the way they should be (to good) IMO. Also my DS gets a constant buffet of railgun and missiles (from unmanned turrets) all the time, so don't tell me it's rare

If the turret is making your life tricky, destroy it. If you can't destroy it, get help from your squad. Turrets don't need to be nerfed because they prevent dropships from having free reign over the skies. .____. you know nothing about dropships if you think that all DS pilots just fly into the fray of things "willy nilly". If you flew DSs you would know that most turrets prohibit you from shooting them, and they just lock onto you and fire away, except some cases where you can use the environment to your advantage. And BTW a rail turret 3-shots my 350k DS, (more expensive for other pilots) so really man, think before you speak...

There are some very silly things with turrets at the moment, but all of these would make them useless. The removal of the AI would be significant, but honestly I don't see a problem with it compared to what they're doing atm. Yeah, how I see it is that taking away AI from turrets would be good enough, anymore nerf and their UP, but if AI is removed there should be a turret HP buff.

EDIT: I don't mean all these changes need to be implemented, just one or two. it is especially annoying since missile turrets have infinite range -_- Someone gets what I'm saying!

Monkey MAC wrote:You realise the reason the AI was upped on unmanned turrets was because people complained at there uselessness, they were nothing but a boon to a tankers WP.
They still don't have much of a tactical use! If there was no AI and they got a buff (HP) they would be useful.

Flix Keptick wrote:They absolutely need a range nerf. Right now, missile turrets in the enemy redline can whack my dropship while I am under our mcc. I'm not exagerating, its that bad I'm an avid DS user and I can tell you missile and rail turrets (especially missile because of their knock back) are way to effective on DSs, also a blueberry shouldn't be able to drive the nose of my DS into the ground because he shot my DS with a rail turret. Friendly fire should give knock back to other friendlys.

Useless indeed. If you don't have the wherewithal to destroy a turret, I would imagine a turret would render you useless. 3 shots, I think, from a Militia Swarm Launcher takes out a turret, maybe 4? If you are running in a squad, you could ask them to destroy it? Or hack it? Maybe a tank? Hell 5 or 6 ARs may take it out. Or CCP could just nerf it. Hmm I don't think you understand. If I ask a friendly to destroy a turret, they may succeed yes, but what if my teammates don't want to, what if I don't have a squad? And again let me bring up that you don't understand dropships because you are not a pilot! No one is your personal butler who will just switch to a swarm or FG fit and take it out! Now if you don't mind I will leave you too your turret in the back of the map 3 hit killing DSs and 2 hitting LAVs

Now if you don't mind I will leave you too your turret in the back of the map 3 hit killing DSs and 2 hitting LAVs Oh I understand completely. If your team is not effective enough to remove a single turret from the map, or if you are running solo.....in a dropship.......you don't want that turret to be a nuisance. You want to be able to fly around willy nilly. wil-+ly-nil-+ly /-îwil-ô -ênil-ô/ adverb adverb: willy-nilly 1. whether one likes it or not. "he would be forced to collaborate willy-nilly" synonyms: haphazardly, at random, randomly, every which way, here and there, all over the place, in no apparent order More "cars were parked willy-nilly" 2. without direction or planning; haphazardly. " politicians expanded spending programs willy-nilly" synonyms: haphazardly, at random, randomly, every which way, here and there, all over the place, in no apparent order More Yes, willy nilly. Moving on, everyone that is green in Dust is your personal butler. If I have a tank or a dropship that needs help, I do what I can to help them. Sometimes I save 'em, sometimes not. But that's a question of tactics, not of balance. If you think that last bit was outlandish I suggest you find a new corp, or stop running solo.....in a dropship......and yeah, if you think i'm sitting on a turret in the back of a map, think again. I'm switching to swarms so I can "abruptly decrease your altitude". Well not everyone is you... and copy and pasting definitions off the internet doesn't make you smart...

Dunk Mujunk wrote:Never said it did. Just clarifying things for you. Look if you want to nerf turrets because they keep you from doing whatever it is that a solo person does in a dropship, that's all fine and good. I've suggested methods that, while highly complex (apparently), are highly effective. If you can't deal with a turret I don't know what to tell you. But again to the OP I say no. .____. I don't have to explain myself to you, for your logic is flawed....

Dunk Mujunk wrote:hackerzilla wrote:.____. I don't have to explain myself to you, for your logic is flawed.... What am I suppose to say to that? There is no talk to be had with you on the topic. You say what you want and you flip out on anyone who doesn't back you up. If you turn back to my first post, and look at your first post directed at me, you can plainly see who was "automatically on the offensive". The people who are detrimental to the game are those who refuse to learn how to play it, and demand that whatever they don't like be nerfed. Your claiming I am personally attacking you, yet you have been a complete @ss to every single person in this thread that hasn't agreed with you. You can do 2 things here. Keep acting like a fool, or come to peace with the fact that everyone has an opinion. And my opinion, as I've already stated, is if you want to nerf turrets because they bother you when you are flying in your dropship, suck it up and learn how to destroy the weakest installation in the game. For one just look at your first post: It was against my idea and not giving any good reason why. "If it prevents you from running your dropship willy nilly" is on the offense because you asume that I suck at piloting DSs, and I'm not saying I'm the best pilot, but I would say that I have some skill with it. And I'm not an "@ss" to everyone by the way, but I will tell you that I give respect where it is deserved, and I am an @ss where it is deserved. Take Arkena Wyrnspire for an example: He disagreed (for the most part) with my post, but he understood where I was coming from and he wasn't negative about it so I gave him a respectful comment back. Look at your post and it shows your close mindedness almost instantly, and I respond with the intent to treat you equally as you treated me, I'm pretty sure you learn that one in elementary school....
My verdict: You need to stop taking your IRL anger out on random people and maybe try to put yourself in someone else's shoes. Also I am done arguing with you unless you decide that we can be civil about things....
